Sampled at Asahiya with a group of others. Brewed in 2010, released in February 2012. Dark amber-brown with a bit of lace. Big caramel malt nose, raisin, dried plums. Sweet and rich with little hop character and also alcohol very well hidden. Tasty malt showcase, though a bit unbalanced. Rich, textured caramel, raisins. Well integrated due to aging. Probably nearly the same recipe as their earlier Toshi’s English Barley Wines. Very English. Ridiculously expensive, though, at ¥3,150.
