Tap at the Napier Hotel, Melbourne. Poured a murky medium brown with a frothy white head and some clingy lace. The aroma is malt, light woody metallic hop. The flavour is moderate to light bitter with a dry malt, light watery, light hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation. An ESB? I really don't think so. Poured a brown-tinged red hue with small slightly off-white head. Aroma light malt and clean hops, faint overall. Initially sweet toasted malt progressively drier but with light bitterness coming through the last half. Bitterness does increase throughout the glass, which redeems. On tap at the Sand Bar, Surfers Paradise. Pours clear mid brown with small white head that dissipates quite quickly. Low carbonation. Aroma is sour lemon and biscuit malt. Flavour is quite floral and citrus with some caramel malt. Taste is quite bitter (as advertised) with reasonable sweetness and a little sour. Palate is a little thin. 330ml bottle - Kinselas, Sydney. Deep ruddy brown with a small and somewhat lasting light beige head. Some mid to dark fruits with pine and resin, roasted malt, dried herbs, smoke, and tea. A fine ESB with a malty earthy dry flavour profile. Notes of marmalade and caramel in there. Good bitterness. Appears clear bronzed with a decent lingering off white head. Make sure you allow it to warm up a bit after removal from the fridge. (330ml bottle). Dervock (1512) - AUSTRALIA - DEC 8, 2016

bottle into glass. Not sure if I was just anticipating something fantastic or didn’t take into account the "new world" part of the marketing, but it was a let down. Just wasn’t what I expected of an ESB. No dark fruits, no raisins, no malt. Plenty of bitterness (not a bad thing) and big piney, citrus aroma. More like a half way between an Australian Pale Ale and an IPA.

colour of an amber ale. a carbonated head, not to much length. smells fruit and pine. like an ipa. passionfruit, mango then a good length of bitterness. its not bad of a beer sweetness is good, carbonation is very high. well done
