Our brewers version the India Pale Ale style of beer, it is the overall most popular of our 5 flagship ales at the Harmon. It is also the first beer brewed on the original equipment in august 1997. The recipe has evolved throughout the years, but has remained the same since 2006. The Point Defiance IPA uses Columbus and Centennial hops for bitterness and flavor, plus ten pounds of Amarillo hops to dry hop. Four types of malted barleys make up the grain bill. This is the brewers "favorite child". 6.1% ABV and 70 IBUs.

Bottle from Harvest Foods grocery store in Moses Lake. Medium amber with thick fluffy head. Malts edge out the hops ever so slightly, but overall a nice blend. Some sweet, some astringent, dry finish.

22oz bottle picked up at Yokes
Pours cloudy golden with a medium sized off white head, good lacing. Aroma is malty, caramel, dusty and pine. Taste is malty, sweet caramel, earthy and pine resin
A decent IPA, a little too malty for me though but it does have a nice pine resin bitterness in the finish to help with the malty sweetness.

Keg at the Harmon Taproom on St Helens, 07/11/14. Hazed golden orange with moderate off white spotting. Nose is pine, grapefruit, orange pith, mandarin, light skunky hops. Taste comprises bitter grapefruit, pine, hoppy wanderings, orange pith. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a bitter hoppy linger. Decent enough IPA.

Draft pour at 192 lake trail taproom. From my notes. Pours a copper color with an incredible fresh hop aroma. This beer had me from there. Nice, hoppy IPA thats simple to drink and very refreshing. Finishes slightly on the bitter side. Really enjoyed this one.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a hazy amber to red/orange (tinted along the sides) color. There was a light half finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. There was some light lacing conveying itself along the sides of the glass. The smell had a decent intrusive citrus to piney bitterness. The taste followed the aroma in a nice way. On the palate, this one sat right about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was somewhat sharp and wanted to try to be invasive to pummel my tongue into submission but it didnt. Overall, this was a mostly decent AIPA that I think I could have again.
