Aroma of roasted malts and hps, hints of chocolate and a little salty on the taste, finishes crisp, pretty good Pailhead (6539) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - SEP 7, 2015
On tap: The aroma consists of moderate pine with a touch of chocolate and roast. It’s a dark brown with some orange highlights and a small tan head that fades to a thin film outlined by a slightly thicker ring. There is some sporadic webbing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts a quick dose of chocolate, light roasted malt, and a hint of citrus. The finish has moderate pine and a touch of citrus hops. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation. ahandrych (9) - - AUG 12, 2013 does not count

very dark brown with small head. very strong malty backbone with nice hops (both citrus and pine). dry. bigtaster (979) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - JUN 21, 2012
Black beer with tan head almost all the way opaque. Nice citrus hops on the nose, a bit of pine. Initially there is a decent amount of dark malt almost similar to a foreign stout. Interesting beer, doesn’t fall directly into the back ipa category almost an American ale. When the style is disregarded its great there is a lot of body, great malt back to support the bitterness chocolate, yet fairly drinkable.
