Bottle from old backlog notes 07. Pours a hazy orange amber color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor had pale malts, mild sweetness, light caramel, grass, light toast, mild fruit, pretty underwhelming. smcolw (617) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - JAN 28, 2014
HUGE head that fades into a hilly froth. After two minutes, it is still three fingers thick. Cloudy (duh, the bottle says unfiltered) with an orange amber color. Excellent ringed lace from each sip.
Dark, root-like aromas. Perhaps the earthiest beer I’ve ever smelled. I’m reminded of an old fieldstone basement
Dry flavors with a harshness that is unusual. An acquired taste, as I drink I enjoy it more. Hop bitterness is present, but frankly, the malt is already pretty bitter. The aftertaste is astringent with a puckering bitterness from hop. The body is slightly below average for a microbeers with an above average carbonation.
I like this beer for its complexity and unique flavoring. I do not know of too many beers that are like this one. Although I wouldn’t put it at the top of my list of favorite beers, I still recommend seeking it out to try it. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - MAY 3, 2013
Bottle:   Orangish caramel, a bit hazy, moderate to large frothy off-white head, nice lacing.   Somewhat of a nutty/grainy nose.   Toasty on the tongue, nutty, with very pale soily aspect.   Body and mouthfeel are
moderate, but nearing the full side.   Seems pretty hefty, at least heftier than others.   Lingering nutty, biscuity, and soft soily notes.   Decent I suppose. johnnnniee (4312) - Bedford, New Hampshire, USA - JAN 22, 2011

Picked up a 6 pack of the encore series.
Pours an amber color with a slight haze to it. Started off with a fluffy head that dissipated quickly. Aroma is nutty, grainy, with some sweet caramel in there. Taste is grainy, bready with a hop touch in there. Medium carbonation and a dry finish that lingers of hops. Descent beer not my favorite, but highly quaffable. auerbrau (3203) - Ithaca, New York, USA - NOV 2, 2009
22oz Bottle. Purchased at Thorpe’s Wine and Spirits - East Greenwich, RI. Pours a furious hazy orange and gold, with a thick, fluffy khaki creampuff. Aroma is a bit odd. Caramel, apples, dust, toast, and bananas. Mingled. The flavor belies this beer’s unfortunate age. Tangy malt sugars fly around with some sprightly yeasts and a good bit of oxidation. I suppose a beer this light could never stave off the perils of time. Body is fresh, airy and bubbling against the palate. Very nice carbonation. Some generic old spices mingle in the background. I sense a quality beer beneath the fog of age. This had some malty depth and a nice yeast character for sure.

22oz bottle acquired in trade. Not sure who sent this one. Poured a medium amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of straw, toasted malts, and I was getting some citrus - rinds in there too. Tastes of straw, wheatiness, the same citrus, and some caramel. Light lacing left on the glass. 12-oz bottle received via Secret Santa July 2008. Pours amber with an average foamy off-white head, mostly lasting with good lacing. Aroma is average malt (grain, hay, straw), light hops (herbs, grass), average yeast (sweat) with notes of soap, pears, and wet paper. Light bodied, thin texture, light carbonation, and a chalky finish. Long duration, light sweetness and bitterness, moderate acidity. Pours turbid deep dull copper with 1-finger off-white head. Nose is wheaties, caramel malt, spicy yeast, hopcitrus. Tastes of spicy yeast, rye wheat, funky hops, and malt, with a creamy texture and nice complexity. Ungstrup (37561) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - MAY 3, 2008
Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival 2007. A hazy orange beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma is sweet with notes of straw and malt. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel and a hay like note of hops, leading to a dry bitter finish. alexanderj (3605) - Branson, Missouri, USA - MAR 21, 2008
12 oz bottle; poured a dark orange/amber with a medium sized, creamy, white head. Aroma was sweet with toasted malt, vanilla and caramel. Aroma got better to me. Haven’t had this style for a while. Good amount of hoppy bitterness; hops were mostly herbal and grassy. Very good grassy flavors. Malts were slightly sweet, nutty and toasted. Solid beer.
