(22 oz. bottle from <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/massachusetts/w target=blank>Julios Liquors) Wheres the bread?...Pours clear bright slightly reddish coppery amber with a tall slightly amberish biege head. Aroma is largely hoppy - hop pellets and pine, with a bit of spice. Mouthfeel is medium-full but not much texture probably due to filtration. Lots of spotty, broken lacing. Flavor is quite hoppy upfront, tastes of hop pellets and pine, a light piney bitter bite. Some light malty sweetness underneath, but the rye wasnt evident for me at all. A bit of spiciness perhaps. Quite boozy in the finish, esp. as it warmed. Kind of a strange one. Not really a bad beer but its just not as advertised.

Bottle sampled with Stegosaurus. Copper amber pour . Aromas are weak but rye is noticeable. Mild spice and fruit in the flavor but was very thin and didnt do much for me. It was just ok.

Tap at Barcade. Light amber with a very creamy off-white head. Aroma is quite earthy and a bit peppery. It smells like an old NSLC or LCBO... that mix of beer and cardboard box that I cant really describe any other way. It almost makes me nostalgic. There is also a light spiciness and a very unusual tobaccoish note with loads of grassy spiciness. The rye in this one is very expressive and really makes its presence known. Flavour is also quite toasty and earthy with a lightly whiskeyish character. Not a lot of fruitiness and the hops seem very woody and UK-ish. A touch of toast and light grassiness. Its okay and there are some interesting components, but something about it is missing.

22 ounce bottle from City Market in Burlington, VT (June 2008) served a bit above fridge temperature from a Chouffe tulip. Pours a clear light copper, with a massive fizzy head that dies slowly leaving faint lace....very sweet, lightly spicy, bready/doughy aroma, hints of citrus....significant rye character on the tongue, lots of sweet caramelized malt, a touch of vanilla/bourbon perhaps, spicy and peppery towards the finish with a faint alcoholic note....thick and fairly syrupy, carbonation muted. Overall quite pleasant and drinkable.

Bottle from Capones. I affectionate have dubbed this one Old Rusty Trombones Red Ass Rye Ale. The pour is medium copper with 2-fingers of clingy, eggshell lace. Nose is bready rye malt, hops, some red winey notes, and a whiff of that plasticy house character that I never get used to. The flavor is caramel malt, rye bread, hops, mild red winey and citric notes. Not terribly complex, but still a good beer.

Draught at TDR Ex: Aroma of floral hops and rye. Poured amber in color with a small, rocky, off-white head that lasted. Clear. Lightly sparkling. Good lacing. Tastes of bubblegum, caramel malts, and rye. Medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Bubblegum, rye, and spice finish.

Draught. Poured a deep amber copper color with little head. Malty sweetness in the aroma, along with some spices and slight estery notes. Sweet rye flavor, as well as some fruit present (citrus, maybe cherry?) before finishing with a hint of bitterness. Very smooth, good beer.

Pours copper with a tan head. Smells of rye, dough, some light citrus, earthy. Tastes of rye, spice, resiny, some earthiness, hints of underlying bitterness, some pepper, caramel, oranges. Palate is crisp. Finish is lightly bitter. This is an enjoyable summer beer thatll hopefully see a regular release some day.

22oz bottle. Poured a medium orange color with a very large sized off white head. Aromas of rye breadiness (that came out the more it warmed), very lightly spicy, and I was getting some citrus in there too. Tastes of some rye (not as strong as the aroma), spicy, and some lighter sweetness.
