Pours bright amber/red into a shaker. Off-white micro head tophats as it slowly recedes to skim surface. Pine and citrus aromas. Thick..yet thin with a spicy rye..yet sourdough middle and finish. nhorween (645) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 21, 2008
22 oz. Clear reddish amber pour with a fine off white head. Rye and hops in the aroma. Balanced malt character with a tinny background. Smells fairly average. Some light sticky sweetness in there also, faint spiced rum notes. Some tropical type fruit in the flavor - pineapple, banana. Lingering bitter finish. Bread and toast in the middle. The rye seems distracting in the flavor. Metallic again. Oily mouthfeel and slightly chalky finish. notalush (5866) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAY 16, 2008
Clear light red beer, with a frothy off-white head - apparent and spicy rye in the aroma, with some biscuity british maltiness, some buttery character - the flavor is dominated by that diacetyl-heavy quality commonly imparted by the use of those british ale yeasts these new england brewers love to brew with - some odd notes of banana bread - some spicy rye manifests late, but never really cleanses the palate of the initial flavor - fairly one-dimensional and bland compared to the recent releases in this series.
