Clear golden with a huge frothy cream colored head that leaves moderate lacing. Plenty of ginger in the aroma, with some citrus and wheat. Taste is lightly sweet and spicy, but there’s not much to it. Medium bodied, smooth, and somewhat dry. Too bad it isn’t as good as it smells. drjay44 (3796) - Salida, Colorado, USA - JUL 1, 2012
650 ml. bottle. Pours a medium, short lived off white head, with some lacing, over a clear dark gold (SRM 6) body....nose is wheat malts, light citrus, ginger....taste is lemon, ginger, light wheat, finishing with a light bitterness and an almost chili burn, later as it warms there is a light floral honey tone....mouth feel light of medium, carbonation high with an almost soda quality. This is an American Wheat with a ginger addition. It is not particularly complex nor interesting and the ginger is too dominant. BJCP 6/3/11/4/6 dfinney23 (3395) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUN 29, 2012
Pours clear golden-orange with a bubbly white head. Ginger and wheat aroma. Taste is freshly-grated ginger over malty wheat and lemon zest. Nice balance of flavors. Art (3219) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 28, 2012
Pretty refreshing. Mix of flavors between a real ginger ale and a wheat beer. This could be good but taste is flat. mar (5436) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JUN 25, 2012
pale yellow with a white head. nose is ginger, light banana and wheat. very light on the palate, it’s like eating a bunch of ginger, with a light wheaty finish.

A very quaffable beer; has enough body and strength to pair with food, or enjoy alone. Had on tap at Plan B, aroma of - you guessed it - ginger; some spice and malt in there as well. Flavor follows the aroma. It’s a solid summer brew. Of the three 100 Barrel series I’ve had this year (Spruce Tip ale, Maple wheat, and Ginger wheat), this has been by far the best and most balanced. Pours clear golden orange with a large white head. Smells mildly funky with lots of ginger and some subtle wheat notes. Taste is refreshing ginger with sweet wheat character and hints of lemon and honey. Medium-bodied with a smooth texture and average mouth-carbonation, Harpoon 100 Barrel Series #42 - Ginger Wheat finishes with a touch of ginger spiciness. Bottle. Pours clear gold with soapy white head. Aroma of ginger, herbal and spicy. Flavor is much the same with a nice maltiness and light alcohol spice. Medium body with medium-high carbonation. Overall, not bad at all buy I probably would enjoy this more if it were a bit on the lighter side in this Texas heat. johnnnniee (4403) - Bedford, New Hampshire, USA - MAY 27, 2011
Picked this up on a whim.
Pours a deep golden color with a stingy white head that dissipates quickly and leaves minimal lacing. The aroma is overwhelmingly ginger with some honey and lemon overtones. At first the smell reminded me of the Japanese steak house then I imagined halls honey lemon cough drops. Taste is more ginger with honey and lemon in there for fun. I got a hint of alcohol in an otherwise dry finish. Slightly syrupy/watery mouthfeel, medium to thin body and carbonation. Well this one isn’t one of my favorites. It grew on me after a while, but reminded me a lot of some gruits I’ve tried. One and done.

February 19, 2010 tasting with blankboy, garthicus, gregclow, jerc & mabel. My 22oz bottle. Hazy gold pour with an average, bog-standard white bottle head. Sharp aroma, fresh ginger and hand soap (??! - 6-). The taste is lovely - fresh ginger, a welcome dearth of Jergens - maybe a little sweet, but simple and refreshing. Average body, strong carbonation (aren’t all ginger beers big on the fizzy?), slightly sticky in the finish. Didn’t like the aroma much, but overall a solid ginger beer.
