The Harpoon 100 Barrel Series Ginger Wheat Ale is an ode to brewer Scott Shirleys favorite spice, ginger. The earthy, warming flavor of this golden-hued ale is derived from fresh ginger. Honey from a local New Hampshire farm yields a slight sweetness to balance the ginger spiciness. A small addition of Apollo hops adds floral notes to the aroma, while a hint of lemon adds acidity and rounds out the ginger flavor. Warm up your chilly winter nights with this ginger spiced beer.

Poured from the tap into a tasting glass. The smell is sweet with a nice light ginger flavor and some hints of lemon zest and corriander. The taste is pretty close to ginger ale and has a good ammount of carbonation to give it a fissy flavor as well. Lemon flavor pokes out a bit with a slight honey flavor as well. The feel of this beer is really light and enjoyable. The carbonation is like a soda a bit so it does remind you of ginger ale a bit. Goes down easy and is quite thirst quenching.

On tap at the newly reopened Crew (well, it reopened a while backneed to get that updated). Pours a hazy gold with a thin to medium sized white head. Loaded with ginger, crisp and clean. Smells a bit like good ginger ale. Lightly sweet, medium bodied, little ginger. Finishes with a touch of wheat, sweet and crisp. Reminds me a bit of a shandy, but not too sweet.

Bottle. Pours gold with a white head. Lemony ginger aroma with some honey sweetness. The flavor has fresh sharp ginger, lemon, and a light sweetness. Im not usually too keen on ginger flavored beers but this one hit me the right way for some reason. Very refreshing.

tap at the Harpoon bar in Terminal A Logan Airport, in the remote part of Term A. Good aroma, Ginger, honey, spice, citrus, but mainly Ginger. Clean yellowy, brownish orange color, Small head, no lace. Sweet bitter flavor, no as strong as aroma, but all the same characteristics, Lite bosy, smooth mouthfeel, sweet finish. Tasty I must say, while I guess the ginger is in the holiday spirit, this would be a decent summer brew in my opinion.

Bottle/22 - Poured a slightly hazy straw yellow in color with a tight bright white head that stuck around for a while. Small lacing on the glass. Aroma is of lemon, ginger, unidentifiable spices and a small amount of very floral hops. Flavor is medium of the floral hops with plenty of the ginger, honey and lemon acidity. Finish is quite clean with lingering lemony notes. Clean, balanced and well worth drinking.

22oz bottle shared at the DC Local tasting. Pours a totally clear, yellow gold with a cloudy white head. Strong aroma of ginger, all spice, nutmeg and one person remarked "a little household cleaner." Flavor is big, right on the tongue, raw ginger. Theres some sweetness too. Dry finish with some spicy ginger heat. If you like ginger then this is for you.
