COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Harpoon 100 Barrel Series Ginger Wheat Ale is an ode to brewer Scott Shirley’s favorite spice, ginger. The earthy, warming flavor of this golden-hued ale is derived from fresh ginger. Honey from a local New Hampshire farm yields a slight sweetness to balance the ginger spiciness. A small addition of Apollo hops adds floral notes to the aroma, while a hint of lemon adds acidity and rounds out the ginger flavor. Warm up your chilly winter nights with this ginger spiced beer.

On tap at the Harpoon Bar - Logan Airport - Boston, MA. Aroma is a cold salted wet slightly spicy cookie. Pours a rather glazed, uneven tawny amber, with minimal head. Flavor is soft, subtle and unassuming. There’s really just a hint of ginger, a hint of wheat, a good bit of house character and a final flourish of booze. This comes across as incredibly mild. One of the lighter spiced beers. It really feels like a "starter" or "crossover" beer, nothing a true craft beer geek would get excited about, which is odd, considering that this is a 100 Barrel series.

Nice fresh cut ginger nose. Taste is lightly bitter, lightly sweet with some decent ginger flavor, light honey and cotton candy, some herbal spiciness. Decent stuff.

Very nice indeed for a cold winter night. Pours a light hazy amber with a big fluffy head. Aroma is ginger snap and lemon. Flavor is similar with a bit of pepper in the back of the throat. Sounds strange but the lemon and ginger work well with the honey to create a very unusual but pleasant beer.

Tap at the Pony Bar. Big pungent ginger aroma. Taste is smooth wheat with nicely balanced ginger.

From a bottle poured a hazy golden color with a good amount of head. Light wheat beer flavor with a very spicy finish.

Clear golden with a huge frothy cream colored head that leaves moderate lacing. Plenty of ginger in the aroma, with some citrus and wheat. Taste is lightly sweet and spicy, but there’s not much to it. Medium bodied, smooth, and somewhat dry. Too bad it isn’t as good as it smells.

Thanks to HogTownHarry for sharing this. Appearance: Slightly cloudy orange, clean white head. Aroma: Like a ginger chew, somewhat soapy, Harry mentioned a urinal cake and I can’t disagree, very sweet ginger. Flavour: Caramel, ginger, very zingy, quite a soapy finish, weird but good.

Bottle. Pours clear gold with soapy white head. Aroma of ginger, herbal and spicy. Flavor is much the same with a nice maltiness and light alcohol spice. Medium body with medium-high carbonation. Overall, not bad at all buy I probably would enjoy this more if it were a bit on the lighter side in this Texas heat.

glennmastrange (2868) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - SEP 22, 2012
Bottle. Light to moderate hay, flowers and perfume for the malt and hops, light soap for the yeast, with notes of honey, ginger and lemon peel. Head is small, fizzy, white with no lacing and is mostly diminishing. Coloris sparkling clear light amber. Falvor starts moderately acidic and the long finish is lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is on the lighter side of medium, watery with a lively carbonation. All of the adjuncts in this beer stand out nicely in the finish.
