This beer is brewed with our proprietary yeast – the same yeast we’ve used since first brewing Harpoon Ale – and some interesting hop varieties. The combination of Pale, Rye, Caramel 60, Flaked Rye, and Vienna yield a complex malt body that stands up to the spiciness of the rye and the pronounced hop flavor. The rye also adds a reddish hue to the beer. The kettle additions of Centennial, Apollo, and Chinook, and the dry hop addition of Falconer’s Flight add a multidimensional hop character.

Best before 10-15-2012.

A: The body is a slightly hazy dark amber/copper body with a steady stream of carbonation from the nucleation point on my glass. A thin yet dense and creamy light tan head sits on top, not much retention but leaves a dense coating on top.

S: Interesting spicy, bready and citrus aroma hinting at a slight bitterness to this, mildly sweet.

T: Bready malts with rye spice on the intro with hints of caramel, the rye spice continues through to the end underlying the beer, while a spicy pine hop bitterness matches the rye really well. The finish hints at citrus and lingers for a bit of spice and dries out really well. This is a good beer.

M: Medium bodied with crisp carbonation.

O: This is a great addition to their year-round line-up. This is a very solid Rye IPA and the hop choices really do well matching the rye in here.

(Rating #6544)

Citrus pine aroma in a golden amber pour. Hop forward balance with surprising spicy body and finish.

bottled - has the aroma of a lesser quality brew but the flavor is there. Nice hoppiness. Clear, light amber color.

EBD 11/15/14. Pours a clear medium amber with a slight hint of garnet. World class head volume, lacing and retention. Outstanding nose of pine, citrus and spicy rye over a biscuit and caramel base. Medium body with a slick texture. Slightly above normal carbonation with a bit of effervescence in the middle and a strong burst in the finish. The flavor profile is intense, moderately complex and well balanced. It begins with a bready rye note that is a bit spicy. The middle brings a mild bitterness that has a bit of rind and pine flavor. As the bitterness fades, a rich malt sweetness comes to the forefront coupled with mango notes from the hops. The finish is a slow fade of rind, caramel and a nice rye bite.

Hop resin aroma, reddish colour. Not too bitter, some rye afteratse, could be a bit heavier bodied, although it’s medium bodied. Decent I guess.

Poured from a 12OZ bottle into a pint glass. Aroma- Has a slight yeast and pine aroma Appearance- This brew is a great amber to orange color with a nice white head. Taste- Has an excellent flavor of citrus, pine and hops that goes down well. Palate- A medium bodied beer with moderate to high carbonation has a dry finish. Overall- I really like this beer, I don’t see it being sold often down in Georgia, but the next time I see I will pick up a few bottles.

CelticBrew (912) - The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA - FEB 9, 2015
Pours from 12 oz bottle a light clear copper-amber color with a finger of frothy white, craggley head. Aroma of some light prickly rye, some malt, some tropical fruits, floral & grassy hops, and some sweet tones. Flavour of bready pale malts, fruity and floral hops, with a spicy rye in the finish. Enjoyable beer !
