Appearance: A hazy brown colored beer. An off-white head with small lacing and good curtains.
Taste: Tasting burnt bread, coffee, chocolate and candy.
Palate: Medium carbonation, a sticky texture. A medium body with a slightly dry finish.
Overall: Very much coffee. Really good.
Note: On-tap at a Harpoon Brewery tasting. Reviewed 2013-03-29.
Bottle. Pours very dark brown with a lacy, light tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and roasted malts, some dough, and floral hops. Flavor the same, with a good amount of coffee. Average to smooth texture. A good coffee porter. brokensail (16599) - Dublin, California, USA - APR 9, 2013
Bottle shared @ Oakquinox 2013. Dark brown pour with a khaki head. Nose is earthy coffee and roasted malt. Some hints of dark fruit, subtle spice, and chocolate. Light caramel sweetness. Coffee grounds flavor, roasted malt, and lots of earth. Mild spiciness, dark chocolate, and a bit of caramel sweetness. high_on_hops (809) - Burlingame, California, USA - MAR 22, 2013
On tap. Pours a dark black with an off-white head and lacing. It has a great aroma of spices, coffee, and dark, toasty malt. The flavor is dark malt up front with the coffee quickly taking over and leading to a spicy and slightly malty finish.

Perfect coffee aroma challenge is no sugar balance to the coffee This leads taste to a bit sour. Not really and not a bad beer probably best porter and at 6 percent pretty exceptional. Nice lasting head. Not thin for 6 percent nice brew if higher abv would be amazing StefanSD (2451) - Ouray, Colorado, USA - MAR 19, 2013
650 ml bottle courtesy of Ed5388. Thanks. Pours a dark brown color with a medium beige head that has fair retention. The aroma is big and bold with well roasted coffee, espresso and coffee grounds. The taste, like the aroma, is a big blast of coffee with other coffee related flavors such as mocha and espresso very prominent. The palate is a bit thinner than I would prefer and the carbonation is lively. Finishes long with a lingering aftertaste of coffee grounds. Overall: Very tasty stuff--fans of coffee beers will want to try this one. rougeau13 (3130) - Richmond, Texas, USA - MAR 15, 2013
Dark brown with a tan head. There’s coffee all over this aroma with some roast and maybe a little cocoa. Tastes basically the same: roast coffee. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Good. kramer (6682) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 3, 2013
Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown body with a small frothy light brown head that faded to a wispy film. The nose is pretty great, but then again, I’m a huge fan of coffee and generally a sucker for coffee beers. Big rich coffee aroma with some chocolate and lightly roasted malts. Smells delicious. The flavor isn’t nearly as delicious as the aroma though. Still pretty nice, lots of coffee, dry roasted malt, a little astringency, finishes with a little too much burnt flavor though. This gets to be a bit watery in texture after a while as well. Light soft carbonation with a lingering ashy finish. This wasn’t the worst beer, but I think it could have been much better if they could turn down the burnt ashy finish. aekdbull (2) - Buxton, Maine, USA - FEB 25, 2013 does not count
Has a very smooth mouthfeel. Strong chocolate and coffee notes in the flavor and roasted malt on the nose. A very tasty porter.
