Pours very dark brown with an amber tint and a tan head. Roasted malt aroma with some smokiness and some pine notes. Palate attacked citrus and tartness. Some smokiness in flavor then very bitter finish. Not the best offering from Harpoon. snoworsummer (5698) - baltimore, Maryland, USA - JUN 15, 2013
Tap. Pours dark brown with a creamy beige head. Aroma is roasted and cookie malts, earthy hops, light ash, plums, figs, and light vanilla. Flavor is roast and chocolate malts with light ash and light earthy hops. Dry finish. Medium body and low carbonation. coolpop (1394) - Birmingham, Alabama, USA - JUN 7, 2013
Bomber. Poured ruby brown with a smallish tan head. Aroma and flavor were lightly roasted malt, a touch of smoke, some toffee. SudsMcDuff (8429) - .....Manchester United.........., Texas, USA - JUN 4, 2013

the people on Family Feud do realize that they didn’t each win $20K, right? it’s 4 grand.
chill out with the fist bumps to Steve Harvey already..
This poured a dark mahogany color with a beige head. Aroma was of light roast, nuts, and mild bittering hops. Flavor was similar, malty toasty nutty and mild hops. A bit better than I expected

This is a good suggested brew. It’s a great start to the night. This is the best harpoon I’ve ever had jeremytoni (3058) - Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA - MAY 4, 2013
From a bottle poured a dark brown color with a good amount of head. Toasted malty flavor with a lingering finish. Cybercat (5840) - Georgia, USA - MAY 2, 2013
Pours a slightly hazy sepia with a very thick, if none too persistent, fluffy light tan head. Aroma has hints of coffee and roast malt and just a whisper of caramel. Flavor has a malty core with notes of woody hops and smoke and a hint of coffee. Texture is firm, smooth and a little edgy, leaving a roast malt and rather hoppy finish that is only slightly bitter. Decent, if not Harpoon’s best. mcox90 (2088) - Wilton, New Hampshire, USA - APR 25, 2013
22 oz bottle. Pours dark brown w/some mahogany highlights. A vigorous pour nets a 1/2" foamy khaki head. Aroma has notes of mild smoke, earth and a hint of chocolate. Flavor is dark malt lightened with medium hoppiness. Floral & citrus doing battle with cocoa nibs & earth. They all win. Palate is moderate in body with a creaminess. Slightly bitter finish. Slutfest. Medium brown, slight head. Slight coffee aroma. Flavor is like a typical brown ale, coffee and a hint of chocolate. Decent. Feel like my scores were a bit kind here somehow.
