A malty base with some sweetness to it, caramel and a very light hint of fruit. Odd finish like modeling clay. derekbrown (109) - Greenville, North Carolina, USA - NOV 28, 2011
Better than expected, this beer from Harpoon carries a slight cherry/berry flavor with the malt. There is an aftertaste that is slightly unpleasant, with this same "aftertaste" being present in the aroma as well. The flavor doesn’t stick around long either, as the beer has little body. Decent, but a little off-putting for regular drinking. FROTHINGSLOSH (7944) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 5, 2012
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark caramel color with a medium sized foamy beige head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was faint tart berries and a touch of nutty malt. The flavor was nutty and a touch roasty with a faint vague tart berry note and a sour tangy finish. Medium body. Disappointing. Thanks, Abbie! Might have gone better on Turkey Day, but even a late tick is a tick. Reddish brown pour, lively carbonation that fades in time. Nose of dried fruit past consumability, along with mild fruitbread. Thin body accentuates the starkness of the flavors. Usually it’s a good thing when a beer like this avoids being excessively sweet; but here the dry, dusky personality just adds up to suck. sonnycheeba (6214) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - DEC 1, 2013
Bottle. Pours clear dark copper with creamy off-white head. Aroma is fig, cranberries, cereal malts, caramel, and floral notes. Flavor is dry malt base, tart fruit esters, light floral hop bitterness, and light sweetness; dry finish. Medium body and low carbonation.

Rated based on notes taken 15 Sept 2012 -- Interesting. (those notes usually mean it wasn’t great) Not a great bit of cranberry, just a hint. So why call it a cranberry brew? Jesterdeal (1985) - Marlton, New Jersey, USA - NOV 19, 2012
Aroma of heavy yeast, cherry, cranberry, and caramel. Pours heady and red. Taste is dry and very yeasty with subtle cranberry. A little too much bread and not enough taste. cheap (5965) - Beaver Valley, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 1, 2013
clean adn fresh smell but it is a little sterile in nature. good initial sizzle ont he palate. quite strong initial impact. medicinal, gets more nastly as we continue. wants to step on your tongue but does nit. some bittter astringent back of tongue thing in there. not sure if there is any realcranberry taste in thar. darker looking ale but not brown. cloying at times. Really wanted to like this, but it was almost a pour. Its redemption was, as it warmed it became tolerable. Nice nose. Cranberry soda at first. Warming brought out a bit of pleasant malt. Still, a dud. jimmie65 (330) - Texas, USA - NOV 25, 2012
Odd greenish-red color (oak) with a thin head. Aroma is cranberry and spice. The cranberry taste is very light, a little more evident in the finish.
Rather disappointing. It’s not horrible but my least favorite Harpoon to date.
