Poured a clear amber with a frothy white head. Aroma is cranberry, caramel, grass, and citrus. Taste is almost like a Marzen with a touch of cranberry. beerandbeyond (708) - ISRAEL - JAN 31, 2013
12oz bottle poured into a tumbler glass.
Clear light brown and tea-like color with a small off white head.
Fruity nose (grapes, plums, some berries) with caramel and floral hops.
Sweet malt flavors, juicy caramel, some tart fruit, grape juice, mellow nuttiness and low bitterness.
Medium bodied, kinda easy to drink and quite satisfying. Cool. bigguns22 (798) - Maryland, USA - OCT 20, 2013
Dark amber with a small white head. Aroma is soft and fruity. Tart but not sour with a nice malt finsh. bellco33 (819) - Willington, Connecticut, USA - SEP 3, 2014
Poured from bottle: Pours redish with a thin white head. Aroma of bready malts and cranberry. Taste is a basic ale with cranberry mixed in. Mildly tart and sweet, but a little thin. Light body, decent beer. nearbeer (5413) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - NOV 28, 2014
12 oz. bb 02/15/15. Pour is a nice looking copper-chestnut with a lasting disc of foam. Aroma is dark toffee, toasted nut and apple baked in brown sugar. Trying really hard, I find there’s an occasional note of metallic fruit that I would chalk up to cranberry, but otherwise never would have thought of the fruit that’s identified on the label. The taste shows some apple with brown sugar, shellac and bitterish nut. A bit later mildly tart fruit notes appear, but again would not have identified the source without the prodding. Medium body has a nice balance and a light astringency from the tart fruit. For me most every Harpoon brew is dominated by a stale apple/fruity English-style yeast flavor. This one is kind of like a roasty Oktoberfest with an English Ale-cranberry twist and is an OK drinker for a fruit beer.

Bottle. Pours a clear brown with a medium sized lightly beiged off white head. Nutty malt, a bit of sweet malt, and a touch of cranberry (but I suspect it’s only because I’m looking for it). Medium bodied, a little sweet, a touch metallic, and a good amount of nutty malt. Finishes up with some sweet cranberry, a bit tart and more nutty malt, this time turning a tad bitter. jimhilt (2610) - Bow, New Hampshire, USA - DEC 1, 2010
Pours a four fingered faint pink head that slowly fades to a thin layer, leaving a good lace. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Nose is light hops and fruit. Color is nice crystal clear amber. Flavor is tart cranberry and hops, dry finish. $2.75 for a 12oz bottle from Bert’s Better Beers Hooksett, NH. Best by 1/15/2011.

A - Pours a fairly clear amber-reddish color with a half-finger of off-white head. The head fades quickly to a ring leaving behind some spots of lacing on the glass.
S - Aroma is full of bready malts and some sweet and slightly sour cranberries. Could have used a bit more of a fresh fruit aroma, the aroma is a bit lacking for a cranberry ale.
T - Starts off with some sweet and slightly tart cranberry flavor and some background toffee malt. Through the middle, some light spices and join in. The finish is a mix of sweet fruit flavor and a touch of bitterness with a bit of malts in the background that lingers nicely.
M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels a bit syrupy and a touch thick. Finish is tart and has some lingering sweetness.
D - Very drinkable. The flavors and balanced and light, and not too empty. Could have used a bit more fresh fruit flavor in there. The aroma was really lacking though. Suttree (6385) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - OCT 27, 2011
Harpoon is kind of a hit or miss brewery for me, but I tend like cranberry beers in general. This one smelled like cranberry, sure enough, but also had weird, vaguely artificial note - think cranberry flavored baby aspirin. Flavor was pretty much the same. It was actually better when served really cold, which I can’t think is a good sign. tommeagher (222) - Jersey City, New Jersey, USA - NOV 26, 2011
Deep brown with a red tint. Malty, sweet cranberry burst in the aftertaste. Very nice. Typically fine Harpoon offering.
