This was the first IPA that most New Englanders ever tried. Considering how far the style has come, Harpoon's offering now seems dated and mundane. Still it has a solid body and a crisp hop taste. A good beer. Bill Becker (1916) - Casper, Wyoming, USA - OCT 31, 2017

Yet another sample that I got in a trade with Wasatch. Thanks John!
This pours from 12oz bottle(best by 10-10-07) a clear light gold with a 1 finger head of foam that recedes slightly but remains as a solid fine layer right to the end of the session.
The smell is of grapefruit and a touch of malt but it's pretty light on the nose.
The taste is pretty light also but I get some nice hop *and* malt flavours. The hops are mostly grapefruit but the malt moves in quickly to balance out what bitterness the hops injected. This is a *very* balanced IPA that is smooth drinking, medium bodied, medium in carbonation, and it finishes slightly citrusy.
Bottom line: This kind of reminds me of a English Style IPA in that the malt character doesn't just make an appearance, it shares equal billing with the hops. It's a very balanced brew and easy to drink. I like it.
Clear golden color with a fine white head. Ok lacing. Fine citric and caramel malty aroma. Medium body and an ok carbonation level. Ok balance between sweetness and bitterness. Fruity, citric hoppy, caramel malty and pine in the flavor. Decent lasting tail. Nice refreshing ale. IPA for everybody.

Clear light copper color with an orange - tinged white head. Aroma has got orange, spice, and light caramel notes. Taste is bitter but not overwhelming. Full but crisp with a bit of a grapefruit juice taste. The whole thing is not as dry, bitter, or as crisp as I've grown to expect from IPAs, but perhaps that's just because it's an east coaster. rauchbier (3941) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - OCT 24, 2017
Bottle, from Asda. Orange-gold, fluffy and sustained white head and good condition. Solid citrusy hop in the nose with sweet grain and a hint of coconut, quite dry in the mouth with a peppery hop note balanced with a slightly sweet fruitiness, hints of melon and a little more coconut, finish is lingering, peppery and hop bitter. angoradad (20) - USA - OCT 16, 2017
Poor thin and amber. Provides and immediate hop bite on the front of the palate that never truly dissipates. Any maltiness that might appear is soon whisked away. Leads to a sharp aftertaste. A beer for drinking after one might have had a few. Pyrmir (6348) - Blattniksele, SWEDEN - OCT 11, 2017
On tap at DomCraft. Copper color with whiteish head. Aroma and taste are light herbal, light caramel, grass, light fruit, flowers with a super smooth and super balanced general impression. NikkTwist (3370) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 10, 2017
UPDATED: OCT 10, 2017 Draft at Macs. Clear copper/gold pour with beige foam. Lots of caramel bready cereal malts. Hops play second fiddle. Tangelo and pretzel dough. Piny citrus zest vs stale Cheerios. Not working for me.
