Clear golden body topped by a small tan head. Aroma is floral and somewhat citric. Taste is floral, grainy and a bit strong. Finish is somewhat sour. Definitely the English version of the style.

pours golden with a large frothy white head. mild floral hop aroma. taste is herbal with some understated citrus hop flavor, no discernible malt character, watery and thin, and hops are very subdued for an IPA. A fairly pleasant and easy drinking beer, but their are many better IPA's to be found.

Harpoon IPA Thin, golden body with a 1/3 inch thick, healthy head. Aroma is faint hops, both floral and sour. Taste mimics aroma, with sugary flavors up front then bitter, grapefruit and citrus flavors that linger on the tongue and dominate the aftertaste. This is an easy drinking IPA that doesn’t really distinguish itself in any one area. Average drink, neither great nor bad. Had on tap (funky 8-10oz glass) at the 14 Carrot Restaurant in Harrisonburg, VA.

Nice white head and has more of a deep gold color rather than the amber/orangy hues of a typical IPA. Aroma is a rather earthy hop and lightly fruity. Malty aromas are also low; Lacking in any real complexity of aroma. Nice soft bitterness immediately on the tongue, seemingly well balanced by what little malt character there is. Hop flavors also appear in the finish along with a light estery fruitiness, but little else. M/F is on the dry side but not astringent and has moderately high carbonation which tends to be a little prickly on my tongue. Overall drinkable, but nothing to write home about. Tap version was extremely high in diacetyl and sort of on the offensive side, but it had more character that the bottled version I'm rating.

Draft. It just lacks hops and doesn't impress. It's easy enough to drink and has a medium bode, but it could sure use some more flavor.

Nice balanced hop/malt aroma and flavor. This old favorite isn't anywhere as aggressive as today's IPA's but very pleasant for us non-hopheads.

This beer pours a light gold color with a moderate head and a little lacing on the glass. The aroma has some fruits in it and some spices as well. The taste was fairly smooth, but not very hoppy. The carbonation is evident in the flavor. Decent beer, but a not quite smooth enough for my tastes.

Light amberish color with a small head. Not a strong hop aroma. Flavor shows few malts upfront with a slightly bitter hop finish. Average IPA, but it's availibility is a plus.

UPDATED: SEP 29, 2003 Light orange color with a white head. Weak resionous hop aroma. Flavor is a little more hoppy than the aroma. Bitter finish. A subtle and good IPA.

On tap at the brewery. This was my favorite draught beer when I last lived in Boston. Doesn't seem to have the impact it once did for me but a solid IPA still. Fresh as can be a deep copper color with a decent head to it. Aroma is primarily cascade with a slight citrus. Medium bodied witha nice balance and a slight bitter finish. Quite enjoyable.
