A long time ago, on a college campus not that far away, in the mid 90s, this beer along with Sierra Nevadas Pale Ale changed my life... or at least my beer palate. Its been a long long minute since Ive tried the old girl. Im sad to say she just doesnt stand up to todays IPAs, even at the tame end of the spectrum. The aroma is rather malty. The flavor is similar with very minute lingering dryness and bitter character. This is a beer best left in the memory banks, allowed to shine for what it once was.

Pours clear amber with low white head. Aroma of pine, citrus, grapefruit, light fruit. Taste is light mellow pine bitter with a fruity and perfumey finish. Light, smooth body with soft carbonation.

Bottle from Harvest Market, Bedford NH. Aroma is slight resinous hops, some basement funk, bready malts. Appearance is clear pale orange-yellow with ring of white head around the edges of the glass with minimal lacing and trace sparkle. Taste is mild fruity sweetness followed by mild bitter. Palate is medium bodied with thick texture, average carbonation and mild, long bitter finish. Overall, pretty pedestrian.

At Myrtle Beach. Light gold color, translucent. Decent nose - floral and citrus. Taste is crisp but simple - some grapefruit and caramel, and a muted hop presence. Decent but nothing special. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Date: June 24, 2015...Vessel: basic table glass...Occasion: last day of a three-day trip to Point Pleasant...Appearance: golden peach, effervescent body; white, creamy, half-finger head; body is transparent; glass drains with vibrant lacing... Aroma: as advertised, a caramel malt and citric hop blend that balances favorably; secondary hints of pine, orange, and melon make for an alluring entrance...Palate: peaceful, soft start; a bit thin, but the malts add a creamy, medium-bodied finish... Taste: the caramel malts take the lead, giving way to slightly bitter hops; drinkable and refreshing, with soft fruit and almost no pine...an East Coast IPA that could almost be a pale ale in profile...Overall: a nice match for a sunny, poolside beach day, with no overwhelming features to suggest a nuanced or groundbreaking beer; having been at this game a while, Harpoon deserves credit for doing what they do well, and this is a standard I recall from my early drinking days...a vacation-worthy beer...

Bottle. Pours clear dark amber and with what little head it has, it is gone in a moment leaving no lacing. Weak aroma of bread, medium bitter in a thin body, no sweetness whatsoever or malt, average carbo, and a very long, very bitter finish. Not well balanced but watery.

My go to beer. Good hoppy flavor, good citrus notes, not too bitter. Highly drinkable any day of the week, all occasions. Love this beer!! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22oz bomber from wegmans. Nice pine on the nose. Plenty of carbonation with a very foamy white head. Red highlights on an orange/tan body. A bit lackluster on flavor. There is a touch of heat as well as some funk. Not great but still palatable.
