Draught. At Coles, Buffalo NY. Deep clear ruby with a smallish lasting creamy tan head. Deep sweet roast aroma, raisin, sweet coffee - definitely lactic - with decent dry herbal bitterness. The taste followed in all respects, strong alcohol, even sweeter than I expected, the dry herbal bitterness lingers a long time. Light body, sticky mouthfeel, sharply carbonated and the alcohol is strong enough to make it seem pretty dry. Hits all the right notes, could have a bit more body.

Tap at EBF. Pours a nice deep dark brown almost black with a nice lasting off beige head. Lots of chocolate and toffee in the flavor, spicy and earthy with hints of leather and licorice with a drying herbal crackery hint. More chocolate malts in the flavor- ok herbal and tea-like hops solightly earthy with anise spice and a toffee and slightly sweet malt backbone - drying dark bittersweet chocolate in the end. Pretty good but nothing really unique or great here.

Bottle. Pours a deep midnight black with a medium sized tan head that deflates quickly. Piles of roast, dark stone fruit, smoke, chocolate, coffee, and a few light esters. Body is medium thick, helped out by the fine carbonation. Finishes with bitter cocoa, and almost a touch of smoke.

porter oscura y fuerte, no tanto mi tipo, cada vez me confirma que me gustan mas las brown / dark ales pero que no llegan a stouts.

One heavy porter. Dark as a stout, thin white head gave it away that it wasnt, quite. The bitter and chocolate tastes come right to the forefront. Is there such a thing as a baltic stout? This would be close. A one-a-night beer.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a lighter ruby tint and a very thin tan head - tons of bubbles show rising from the sides when held up to a light. Aroma of roasted malt, pit fruits, raisins, caramel and a bunch of nuts. Full-bodied; Chewy mouthful of nuts, alcohol, caramel and light spices. Aftertaste is super potent, a lot of alcohol and unrefined sugars show. Aftertaste show caramel, malt and oak. Overall, nothing Baltic Porter about this one - more of a bitter dubbel than anything else - perhaps an Imperial Brown, but this is definitely not a decent Baltic Porter - try Zywiec if you want a real one. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from OIivers Beverage in Albany, New York on 22-December-2008, sampled at home in Washington on 12-January-2009.
