3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Probably the best baltic porter I’ve had. A bit more hops than usual, and nice roasted and chocolate malt flavors. Takes the edge off the alcohol burn which is usually very prominent in this style. Almost tastes like an imperial stout.
THOUGHTS: Very pruney and, as I imagine, similar to the traditional Baltic porter style. It could do a better jb of hiding the ABV.
TECHNICAL: Drank 4/7/2013. Bottle. Poured a dark, brown that was basically black in the glass with red highlights and a small, off-white head that mostly diminished. The aroma had moderate dark toasted bread, grain, molasses, caramel and chocolate; light spicy hops; raisin, plum, prune; red wine; slight soy sauce; alcohol; and maybe a hint of licorice. The initial flavor was moderately sweet and lightly bitter; white the finish was heavily sweet and moderately bitter. There was caramel, chocolate, roasted malt, red wine, prune, alcohol, raisin, dates, and grain. The medium body was a bit oily with fizzy carbonation and a lightly alcoholic, moderately astringent and slightly metallic finish. chinchill (5311) - South Carolina, USA - JUL 20, 2014
2012 12 oz bottle poured opaque with red-brown edges. The small weak head soon reduced to a ring but left lacing nonetheless.
Fruity and boozy for style.
Full body with low carbonation.

Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a dark brown/black body, a one finger white head appeared and lasted for about a half minute before dieing to a film on top of the body. Some spider web lacing lasted for about several seconds before sliding into the body.
The smell had roasted malts and dark fruits up front and combined nicely. Some dark chocolate enters in as the beer warms.
The taste was sweet and smoky in a rich sort of feel, perhaps due to the chocolate that comes out more so in the taste.
The palate was about a medium and leads to a decent sipper due to the ABV level, so not exactly drinkable.
Overall, this is a good beer well worthy of coming back if I lived in its distro. smcolw (617) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - JAN 27, 2014
Chunky head with good ring lace. Deep ruby brown where light only shows through on the edge.
Slightly sour aroma; otherwise, a chalky mocha smell.
Creamy latte flavor, with the emphasis on the coffee. Moderate body with a low level of carbonation. A very light sweetness to the brew. SuperTiti33 (893) - Aylmer, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 12, 2014
Brune foncé aux reflets rougeâtre. Belle mousse beige. Nez: fruit séché. Malt rôti. Mélasse. Biscuit. Bouche: ronde. Forte chaleur d'alcool. Très sucré avec une amertume modéré. Légèrement chocolaté. Fruits séchés. Date. Raisin sec. Noix. Biscuit. Très bien.

Draught. Looks like a porter. Aroma is sweet, roast, boozy, with some dark fruit. Taste very barrel aged boozy. It’s sweet then turns to a very bitter finish. Thick lively feel. Just too boozy and not into it though not bad. Imaena (2359) - Maputo, MOZAMBIQUE - JUN 1, 2013
Bottle. This is a nice Baltic with lots of roasted malt flavor and a good hop spice. drsordr (2861) - Loveland, Ohio, USA - APR 5, 2013
Bottle pour black with ruby hues. Nose of roasted malt, almost wheat. Taste with roast, chocolate, and nice hoppy bitterness. Decent thick mouth feel. AmEricanbrew (6954) - Same Trailer, Different Park, Louisiana, USA - FEB 28, 2013
Beautiful ruby red color with tan sheen. Dark fruit, smoke, black malt, mild alcohol aromas. Light to medium body. Dark toasted bread, smoke, dark fruit flavors with a warming, lightly boozy finish--good zgaier (1962) - Coral Springs, Florida, USA - FEB 8, 2013
pours a dark brown with a tan head and sweet aroma of fruity, roasted malt notes. Taste is sweet and roasty, of roasted malt, fruit notes, licorice, and caramel with a dry, roasty, warming alcohol finish. Very good, tasty baltic porter.
