Our interpretation of this English style ale is deep garnet red in color with a distinct malt backbone balanced by a unique blend of hops. Cheers!

Bottle:   Deep amber, fiery copper hue, thin to moderate tannish head, spotty lacing.   Sweet bready nose, slightly bananaish, touch of band-aid albeit its minor.   Almost a sweetish cherry or fruity cough syrup.   Citrusy, a little band-aid and plastic like on the back.   Smooth mouthfeel, moderate body.   Sweet finish, makes up for the band-aid and slight plastic.   Still was enjoyable.   Thanks Keith!

A - Pours a clear orange-red color with a finer of off-white head. The head fades down to a thick ring around the glass, leaving behind some nice lacing. S - Aroma is full of rich roasted caramel malts and some dark fruit sweetness. There is also just a touch of booze and bread. T - Starts off with a mix of deep roasted caramel malts and some dark fruit sweetness. Just a hint of hops in the background. Through the middle, some sweeter fruit flavors come through alongside some bread flavor. The finish is a blend of dark fruit, some sweet malt, and just a touch of alcohol flavor that lingers nicely. M - Medium-full bodied with moderate-low amount or carbonation. Has an almost syrupy feel to it. The finish has a bit of a dryness to it which is really nice. D - Pretty drinkable, especially considering the 10% abv. The hops are a nice surprise. The overall flavors are nicely balanced and develop nicely, especially as the beer warms up a bit.

Brown pour with a small head. Aroma holds sweet caramel, some resinous and citrus hop presence (though subtle), and biscuit. Flavor is much of the same; sweet malt definitely the main component. A bit thin. OK stuff.

Courtesy of Carl. Dark brown pour with a small head. Notes of caramel, biscuit, and slightly muted citrus and pine resin lead to a carmel oriented flavor. More biscuit with a grassy hop profile. The palate is a bit thin for the style, with low carbonation and a supple mouthfeel.

Bottle from Hyde Park Market. Pour is reddish brown with a thin, off-white head which dissipated quickly. Beer itself had nice carbonation for a high ABV beer. Mouthfeel is thick and slick. Aroma is sweet and malty, with a lot of warming alcohol flvor on the finish. A bit of tart, piney hop flavor is present as well. I found it to be a nice, well balanced barleywine.

12 oz. brown bottle. A reddish brown with a small head. The aroma is sweet, candy, fruity, and grains. Not a bad aroma. The taste is barley sweet, and some fruitiness. This seems to be a really straightforward basic barleywine. It does go down fairly smoothe for the alcohol content.

A bit of a disappointment. Poured a nice amber-red color with a quickly fading white head. Looked to be very thin and watery. Aroma had a nice sweetness, some brown sugar and some caramel. Hops were decent, but not assertive enough. Hints of vanilla were present. Flavor showcased more of the sweet malts then anything else. Hops were mildly bitter and the alcohol seamed well hidden. Overall body seemed light.

12oz bottle in a snifter. Pours ruby/deep amber with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of caramel and cereal malts, floral hops, and light fruits. Flavor about the same with a sort of resiny flavor holding back potential of this beer, and a finish of hops. Smooth texture. A decent barley wine.

Not a big fan of the style but this was fairly quatrains. Pours a rich ruby color with a thin brown head. Faint aroma of spices on the nose. Fairly smooth taste that lingers nicely. Nice hints of pungency their as well

OK but I was expecting more. A hoppy aroma with a lot of rubbing alcohol starts this out. Looks good enough, amber with a small head. The taste is a bit sweet but dominated by bitter hops and the alcohol is a little bit too evident.
