A: The beer pours an amber color with a finger of off-white head.
S: A decent hop character to the nose. Mostly floral with some pine notes to it, but not really any citrus to it. A light note of booze, but it goes away soon. Lots of toffee and a bit of brown sugar.
T: The flavor is actually quite good. Toffee, caramel, and brown sugar malt notes with a hint of chocolate on the back end. Piney hops give it a nice bitterness and there is a small amount of citrus peel.
M: Medium bodied with a smooth, medium carbonation.
O: Maybe it’s all the trash beers I’ve had lately, but I thought this was pretty good. bhensonb (15761) - Woodland, California, USA - JAN 29, 2011
Bottle from ericandersnavy. Looking forward to a distinct malt backbone. Pours ruddy copper with a foamy beige head. Aroma of mildly roasted malt. Smooth. Sweetish. Hints of hop fragrence. Full bodied. Sweet roast caramel. Very caramel. Floral hop. ESB on steroids. Very nice sweetness followed by light bitter. Slight bite. Then back to true caramel. Like those little Kraft goodies. Very nice ale. Ratman197 (15372) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - MAR 1, 2012

Bottle. Pours a clear ruby orange with a large beige head. Soft caramel, sweet and floral on the nose with some nice pineapple notes. Smooth and lightly sweet at first with a bit of hops coming through. Big caramel and soft warm malt. Slow warming alcohol and a nice balancing bitterness on the finish. Nothing mind blowing but tasty and done well. jcwattsrugger (12524) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - JUL 23, 2011
on tap-pours a light tan head that laces and dark amber color. Aroma is medium fruit, citrus/pine. Taste is sweet medium malt-toffee, spice hops, medium/dark fruit-plum, sugary, some licorice. Good effervescence. Opens up nicely as it warms to cellar temperature. DocLock (11048) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 10, 2010
Bottle from Capone’s that I’m cracking now as I listen to Daughtry. The pour is clear deep coppery caramel colored with 1-finger off-white head. Not quite a 5. Nose is nice earthy caramel malt, spirity hops, fruit, tart slightly funky yeasty, with that "Hey, man, I;m a big barleywine, and you are going to have to deal with me" smell that we all crave so much. The flavor is big caramel malty, a bit sticky, very fruity, with big hops, caro syrupy malt that is big and bold, a solid complexity, and a complex, dense palate. This is one of Harpoon’s best whales, but you really need to be Ahab to appreciate it. Queequegs need not apply. blipp (9696) - La Mesa, California, USA - FEB 22, 2011
Bottle. Pours red orange with an off white head. The aroma has light sweet malts, some fruity notes, and some nice resinous hoppy notes. The flavor is relatively reserved and well balanced, with sweet and toasty malts, resinous hoppy notes, floral notes, caramel, and some berry like fruity notes. Smells like sweetened strawberry shortcake laying out in a flower patch to ferment. Pours without much lacing and some soapy bubbles. Taste of alcohol is strong, barley bitterness present but not overbearing. Some of the caky sweetness in the smell carries through to the aftertaste. Better than some of the mediocre offerings I’ve had from this brewery but it doesn’t go much further than that. Bottle from Lebanon Health Food store, NH.
