Bottle. Pours copper amber with a thin off-white head. Aroma of caramel, toffee and fruit. Flavor was sweet and moderately bitter with caramel, fruit, toffee, brown sugar and alcohol. johnnnniee (4346) - Bedford, New Hampshire, USA - JUL 27, 2012
I tried this fresh and thought it was a bit hot so I held on to a couple of bottles to see how they developed. Pours a deep copper color with a decent off white head that shows moderate retention and lace. Smells of bready caramel and toffee with a bit of earth and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with bready caramel and toffee with a bit of ethanol to cut through the sweetness. Medium body with a light level of carbonation and a sweet sticky mouthfeel. After two years the alcohol is still a bit hot, but that is the only thing providing any balance against a really sweet syrupy maltiness. OK barleywine, definitely a sipper. Bottle. Clear amber color/ tan head. Spicy caramel, toffee, mild pine sap aromas. medium bodied. Spicy caramel, molasses, pit fruit, mildly boozy flavors. rocbyter (2131) - Waterbury, Connecticut, USA - FEB 22, 2011
Malty aroma. Clear red orange color and a small white head. Moderate sweet beginning with a mellow finish. Thorpe429 (5035) - , Illinois, USA - AUG 4, 2011
Bottle courtesy of the good Sir Drew. Served in a snifter.
Pours a bright, clear reddish-amber color with a very thin off-white head that quickly recedes to a half-cap with a thin collar of bubbles. The nose brings some light cherry and other fruits. Flavor is moderately-sweet with some bread and light brown sugar plus a light amount of caramel. Malt dominates, though it’s not too integrated. Alcohol is impressively integrated. Medium body and average carbonation for the style. Pretty good.

From bottle served in snifter. Slight semi sweet, fruity aroma. Fairly hazy, amber color with minimal head. Very bitter taste. Fairly strong bitter finish with a medium body. Overall not really my favorite beer. Too hoppy without much other flavors coming through. RollinHard (1024) - Fort Worth, Texas, USA - JUN 11, 2011
Pours a red orange with bright orange highlights and a small white head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, raw dough, cough medicine, soap, floral hops and a slight pine background. Tastes pretty similar with a mix of caramel toffee, earthy bitterness, slight white chocolate, soapy hops and medicine. Finishes with an "American" amount of bitterness. With an earthy and soapy aftertaste. This could be a decent beer, but the hops come off so damn chemically it’s distracting! Medium bodied for the style, heavy otherwise, with an over-filtered texture. At least it’s a good price. bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - DEC 27, 2010
(12oz bottle, courtesy of mar) Pours a clear amber body with a medium off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt, raisins, and cherry. Flavor of raisins, roasted malt, light brown sugar, cherry, and caramel with a dry, alcoholic finish. thornecb (5948) - Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA - JAN 10, 2011
Pours deep, clear reddish amber into a snifter. Tan head with medium retention recedes to mottle surface leaving spider lacing. Sweet roasted caramel aromas. Thick with sharp silly putty from front to back. Lasting burnt rubber caramel finish. Ernesto987 (6050) - Arizona, USA - MAR 16, 2012
On bottle at gavins. Really sweet brew here. Not sure if I’m a fan. Big barley flavors
