From mcox90 via trade. Poured a nice rich golden color with a two-finger tall white head and good lacing. The aroma was a nice blend of light floral hops, spice and grass. The flavor was spicy hops with some softer floral notes and a touch of malty sweetness for balance. A nice mouthfeel that almost felt oily from time to time. A nice example. jhumphries69 (1034) - Tyrone, Georgia, USA - AUG 7, 2009
Draft at Taco Mac. Pours cloudy amber brown with a thin white head. The aroma is pungent and awesome - loads and loads of caramel, malts, soft esters (hints of bubble gum). It has a tasty, deep malty flavor with a soft, spicy bitterness in the finish. Very full-bodied. Overall - surprisingly delicious. PapaSkeetSkeet (1010) - Providence, Rhode Island, USA - JUL 14, 2009
Pours a nice gold color with considerable white head and decent lacing. Smells refreshing, don’t recall the details. Flavor is a nice mild blend of light malt and hops with a bit of honey. Alcohol content is covered amazingly well. Good beer, enjoyed very much. Has a nice slight bitterness in the finish that I like to see in lager beers. Tejas (1006) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JUL 5, 2010
Draught > Gingerman. This didn’t taste like a pils at all to me. Wasn’t crisp or clean which is what I look for. Tasted more like a soapy pale ale. Not impressed. Was looking for something different. I guess I just don’t get Harpoon’s beers. I’ll try this again just to make sure though. Onenote81 (1002) - Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA - APR 25, 2012
Originally reviewed: 1/21/10. Poured into a pilsner glass. Pours a lightly-hazed gold with a massive foamy white head on top. Lots of bubbles rising up. Great retention. Leaves some sticky lace. Scents of lemon zest, fresh-cut grass, and a mild soap afterscent.
The body is not as crisp as I would like. The alcohol level maybe smoothed this one more. For this style, I like a sharp crisp feel. Flavors of lemons, sourdough, and alcohol. The alcohol warms on the backend. Light resiny hops in there, but the bitterness is low in this beer. This was a pretty good beer, though I’m not so sure this is a style that needs to be "Imperial-ized."

12oz bottle. Pours clear yellow golden in color with white head. Aroma grainy, floral hops and bready. Taste fruity, hops and bready with bitter finish. jujubeast6000 (854) - Houston, Texas, USA - NOV 5, 2009
Reviewed 8/16/2009 (Draft at Flying Saucer, Houston, TX):
Pours a clear golden yellow color body with a smallish white head. Hoppy malty bitter citrus aroma. A little musty, not overly strong. A little fruity smelling. Bitter taste, drying, almost acidic. Strong taste, alcoholic. Almost a platricy taste. Very hoppy and bitter tasting. Acetobacter (816) - Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 26, 2009
Experienced at the brewery in a sample glass. The beer pours a slightly darker-than-regular-pilsner medium golden, no doubt as a result of the extra malt incorporated in its brewing. The first note that comes to the nose is one of fabric cleaning chemicals, like what you would get at the dry cleaner. This dominates all olfactory senses, and makes noticing hops or malt nearly impossible. The palate is a little more refined, but falls short of the malt and hop crispness that are a hallmark of great pilsners. Overall, a disappointment. checkmatei1 (765) - Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 15, 2009
Draft @ Capones: Poured a hazy yellow with not much head. The aroma was spice, citrus, and hops. The flavor was the same with more lemon and spice. Overall, an easy drinker at 9%. hoosiers1994 (684) - Maryland, USA - MAY 21, 2011
12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass. The beer pours a light slightly couldy yellow with a white head. Nice lacing on the glass and lively carbonation. The aroma is floral and spicy with definite sweet malt notes. Taste is more malty than expected, like a malty DIPA. Also get notes of the spicy hops in the finish. Overall, this is a good ImpPils, but a little too malty for my taste. I would rather have had more hops. ABV is not noted to be as high as listed, well hidden.
