COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named after the ancient god of darkness, Leviathan Czernobog is a tribute to the hardy stouts originally brewed in England for shipment to the frigid Baltic. With notes of unsweetened chocolate, molasses, and dark fruit, this Russian Imperial Stout will withstand the darked of winters.

(Rating #5236)

12 oz. bottle. Jet black with a beautiful tab head and minimal lacing, thick like motor oil. Smell is roasted malts, molasses, baker’s chocolate, alcohol and coffee. Taste is incredibly balanced, chocolate, roastiness, a touch of hop bitterness and a bit if alcohol burn. Really good imperial stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

My bottle [12oz] shared with HogTownHarry. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with an average size semi-lasting frothy beige head. Nice aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, light hops and a bit of alcohol. Flavour of roasted malt, leafy hops, some lactic notes and chocolate. Medium bodied. Really good, I quite liked it.

Sampled on draft at the House of 1000 Beers this beer poured a black color with a medium sized foamy brown head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was cocoa, coffee, roasty malts and vanilla. The flavor was roasty and toasty with moderate coffee, cocoa and vanilla elements. Long finish of toasty malts, coffee, cocoa and vanilla. Turns a bit dry and woody at the very end. Thick and creamy body. Very nice.

12oz bottle shared by blankboy. black and oily, smallish light brown creamy head. Somewhat sweet deep roast aroma, alcohol, a bit of table cream, mint and herbal bitterness. Taste follows, a touch hot, nicely balanced though. Slick, low carbonation, quick oily alcoholic finish. Good.

On tap at House of 1000. Smoky with coffee, soy sauce, molasses, and chocolate. Light alcohol sweetness. Mild vanilla. Dark black opaque with thin cocoa head. Medium chewy body with medium carbonation. Starts rich and malty with chocolate and molasses, coffee, and a bit of smoke. Mild alcohol warming. Big chocolate-molasses finish with nutty sweet and bitter after.

12oz bottle - pours black with little brown head and thin lacing. Nose is dark fruit. Flavor adds faint coffee and indistinct malts. I’m betting this is too cold as is. BRB... as it warms flavor borders on licorice and resin. Somewhat sweet and bitter on the finish. Not what I expected but not necessarily a bad thing. Quite complex and an interesting take on the style.

12 oz bottle. Pours as dark as midnight on a moonless night in the country with a one finger khaki head and pretty good lace. Smell is rich with unsweetened chocolate, molasses, dark fruits and toasted grains. Flavor starts out bitter, but turns towards the sweet side as you get into it. Just enough booze so’s your reminded your drinking a big beer. Heavy, even oily palate. Very good.

2012 Bottle: Pours oil-black with a small, dark head. Aroma is sweet cherry wood smoke, raw chocolate. Flavour is very dark chocolate, thick...raisin..vanilla bean. Tingly carbonation....a whisper of smoke and pepper. Rich and smooth. Excellent.

Comes out of the tap a rich, dark coffee brown with a fine-bubbled tan head that leaves generous lacing. Hearty aroma has strong chocolate, caramel and roast malt notes plus hints of caramel and fruit. Robust flavor has a core of roast malt and coffee, chocolate, earthy, woody hop and caramel notes of varying strength. Each sip seems just a little different. It is slightly sweet, but not too much. Texture seems just a teensy thin for an Imperial Stout, but otherwise quite firm and fizzy. Darkness visible, and very tasty!
