12oz bottle. Small brown head atop black body with brown edge. Aroma is medium sweet, roast, bittersweet chocolate, some earthy, light raisin. Taste is medium sweet -- really not much happening until the back of the mouth, when roasty bitterness, earthiness and dark chocolate kick in. Medium-full body, some stickiness. Draft at pony bar with Andrew, Brendan and Feng. Pours a deep black body with no head and light chocolate brown lacing. Aroma is deep espresso and roast. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of sweet chocolate malts, light roast. Very straight forward stout, very balanced and extremely drinkable considering the 10%. Sampled on draft at the House of 1000 Beers this beer poured a black color with a medium sized foamy brown head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was cocoa, coffee, roasty malts and vanilla. The flavor was roasty and toasty with moderate coffee, cocoa and vanilla elements. Long finish of toasty malts, coffee, cocoa and vanilla. Turns a bit dry and woody at the very end. Thick and creamy body. Very nice. blankboy (7662) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 21, 2013
My bottle [12oz] shared with HogTownHarry. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with an average size semi-lasting frothy beige head. Nice aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, light hops and a bit of alcohol. Flavour of roasted malt, leafy hops, some lactic notes and chocolate. Medium bodied. Really good, I quite liked it.
