3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
pours nearly black with medium dark tan head that quickly dissipates. aroma is dark fruits, toffee, roast, and espresso. initial taste is dark chocolate, toffee, and smoky roast; finishes on the dry side, with tar, earth, and bitter coffee flavors. thin for an imperial stout.
Tap at Draught 55. Very dark pour smaller beige head. Nose is roasted malt and espresso. Taste of coffee beans, some mocha, earth, grass, very little alcohol heat. Smooth palate. Really hides abv dangerous stuff. Xenon (143) - Cary, North Carolina, USA - JUN 16, 2016
Not sure I like this any better than normal leviathan, but then again it’s been forever since I’ve had it. The chocolate is definitely unsweetened. It has a touch of that dark chocolate bitterness. Not as thick as a 10% beer normall would be, but still plenty thicker than a single stout. Leaves a slight lasting sting after, but rather tame roastiness on the back end. Session IRS? Heh yeah right. chinchill (5318) - South Carolina, USA - JUN 10, 2016
A 22 oz 2014 bottle poured into a Porter Bar goblet. It pours with a dark, opaque, near black body that has thin dark ruby edges and a short tan head.
Aroma - Fruity, with notes of dates, figs and plums, Dark roast malts with little alcohol in the nose.
Flavor: Rich, strong and boozy. Dark fruits, hints of coffee; light smoky grains. Sweet up front but turns mildly bitter by the time the aftertaste starts to fade.
Feel - Full bodied, rich in velvet texture; Lightly hot in the mouth and quite warming upon swallowing.
O - A rich RIS; with about 2 years of aging, the boozy element is well hidden in the aroma but not the taste. nwiseman (204) - Norwich, Connecticut, USA - APR 19, 2016
Boozy coffee aroma. Tastes of cocoa, molasses, and dark fruit. Smooth mouthfeel, but not flat. This beer has just about everything I look for in the style. 1st beer I’ve rated in a while though, so my ratings may be skewing a bit high. Frax (60) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - APR 6, 2016
Bottle from Shaw’s, poured into a pint glass, pitch black with a thin tan head, thick lacing. Smoked meat aroma, hot chocolate notes with a creamy mouthfeel and mildly bitter coffee finish. More pronounced as it warms to room temperature.

(750 ml. Quick3Beers (1424) - East Falmouth, Massachusetts, USA - JAN 11, 2016
Pours a deep dark brown, nearly black, from a bottle, thin hot-chocolate colored head, almost no lacing. Flavor of baking chocolate, maybe a little raspberry. Hit of bitterness toward the end. Very good beer. puboflyons (3498) - Allenstown, New Hampshire, USA - NOV 27, 2015
From the 650 ml. bottle. The pour is dark brown to black. Good sweet malt character on the nose. Some cellar mustiness. The aroma is also sweet and caramel like. The body is medium. The taste is also sweet with a low alcohol bite. That’s a good thing.tekstr1der (501) - New Hampshire, USA - NOV 26, 2015

From the 650 ml. bottle dated 2014. The pour is deep dark jet black with a modest tan head on top. I pick up more of a milk chocolate character before all else but no alcohol considering the 10% ABV. The body is around medium. The taste has a kind of milk chocolate flavor with dark roasted malts and a slightly dry finish.
Quite black pour with very little brown head. Aroma is mostly roast malt with a faint smokiness. Flavors are of cocoa with a mild sweetness, very roasty, and slight hint of ripe fruit. Very balanced and clean finish make this super drinkable for the style. Alcohol is well-hidden. trapped (3614) - New York, TURKEY - NOV 22, 2015
Draught @ Draught 55. Inky dark brown with small tan foamy head, mocha aroma, medium carbonation, bitterish mocha taste with alcohol undertones, medium bitter finish. Well masked alcohol content.
