Bottle. Aroma of alcohol, malts. Poured a lame clear light amber with no head. Doesn’t taste like a wee heavy at all! Watery palate, hid the alcohol well. vodka4blood (152) - Miltonboro, Vermont, USA - JUN 28, 2012
Let me just start by saying (gushing?) that this is an amazing beer, and a wonderful American specimen of the Scottish Wee Heavy style ("Scotch" beer always makes me think there might be a wee bit of whiskey in it). Not sure why others below me have rated it so low thus far, but I will echo the sentiment that I am excited to try one after its spent a year or 2 in my cellar....
Thank you, Harpoon Brewery!! Rrauth (1196) - North Carolina, USA - JUN 28, 2012

Light amber with a cream head. Heavy caramel, peat, molasses, and faint smoke. Chewy palate, alcohol, syrup, heavy malt, and a sweet finish. Drake (14078) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 24, 2012
12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Market Short Pump, VA. Pours a clear amber color with a medium sized fizzy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of toffee malts, anise, floral notes and a weird potato chip thing. The taste is big toffee notes, stone fruits, earth and an earthy hop finish. Full bodied, slight heat, slightly disjointed.

The aroma is papery and grainy with caramel malt, alcohol, and earth. The appearance is light brown with a small head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is thin. Overall not great. Palidor19 (3193) - Brandon, Florida, USA - JUN 24, 2012
the flavor is quite extraordinary, its ha really deep dark malts and a quite a bit of hops bitterness. the beer has a good astringent after taste. its highly alcoholic, drink carefully gripweed57 (2861) - Hamilton Square, New Jersey, USA - JUN 22, 2012
12 ounce bottle. Deep garnet color with a small beige head. Mildly smoky roasted malt nose hints at rubbing alcohol. Sweet sticky dried fruit malt flavor has some smokiness. Very noticeable warming alcohol flavor. Some hops, but malt dominates. Intense bittersweet mouthfeel and finish. Not a favorite. Stop staring at her.
You’re making me uncomfortable.
............ Dude, how’d I get up here?
bottle. a clear light brown/amber beer with a small head. nose of sweet dark fruits, medicine, caramel, and earthy toasted peat. big toast flavors and grape nuts. mild smoked peat in the background. some dark fruity esters. full body with a lot of carbonation that works well to counteract the chewiness. a beast of a beer. maybe too beastly. i like the grape nuts. the medicinal quality is a bit much.
