Imagine a pumpkin vine wound its way in a field of barley, and a brewer harvested it all to make a beer. Add Northwestern hops and a blend of spices, and you’ve got UFO Pumpkin. The malt combination provides a smooth body and slightly sweet flavor, which balances perfectly with the earthy notes derived from the pure pumpkin. And like all of our UFO beers, UFO Pumpkin is unfiltered so all the wonderful flavors are right there in your glass. Cheers!

Better than average pumpkin brew with a nice balance of pumpkin, spice, wheat and malt flavors.

Appearance: Liquid pumpkin bread under a white head tinged with just a hint of pumpkin. Swirls bready along the edges.
Nose: Soft pumpkin and gingerbread, pumpkin cookies and gingerbread cookies. Golden brown pie crust along the edges with cinnamon and nutmeg on top.
Palate: Super soft just the nose implied with pumpkin and ginger infused whole wheat breads in the middle. Fresh cinnamon and nutmeg on top. Chewy. Brightness along the sides brings to mind the sun shining through trees with leaves all the colors of Fall. As the beer warms up, the flavors start to grow muddy and the body starts to grow thin.
Final Thoughts: The UFO Pumpkin from Harpoon Brewery started off with a lot of promise, but about halfway through she lost her vivacity. As mentioned above the flavors grew muddy and developed an off-flavor while the body grew unnaturally thin. A weird development that was not enjoyable.

Bottle via StateLine.. Good nose of pumpkin seeds and flesh. Orange in color, not much head. Good pumpkin taste, lot of pumpkin flesh, seeds, malty, spices, brown sugar sweetness. Well balanced, easy to drink but full bodied. Overall: I will give this pumpkin brew two thumbs up!

Foggy honey brown pour with a white head that thins quickly. Smells of pumkin and spice with a similar taste acompanied by a bit of hoppyness. Leaves a nice spice anf pumkin taste behind with very little bitter. Solid pumkin brew.

Poured into a 12 ounce glass with a nice orange hazy color and a fizzy minimal off-white head. Aroma of pumpkin and nutmeg not much else overall. Spice is kinda minimal. Flavor is of nutmeg and cinnamon but not much else. It is kind of wattery overall, with very minimal difference in flavor on the backend. Mouthfeel is fizzy/watery carbonation is above average. Overall this is a meh beer.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 12/15/2013. Pours hazy orange amber color with a 1 finger foamy white head with horrible retention, that reduces to a ring of lace quickly. Minimal lacing clings on the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of pumpkin, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, ginger, wheat, bread, banana, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Nice aromas with prominent spice/yeast ester notes and moderate malt balance; with good strength. Taste of pumpkin, cinnamon, gingerbread, nutmeg, clove, wheat, brown sugar, light banana, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of pumpkin, cinnamon, gingerbread, nutmeg, clove, brown sugar, wheat, light banana, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Good balance, robustness, and complexity of malt, spice, and yeast ester flavors; with a good sweetness/spice balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a moderately creamy and smooth mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is good pumpkin ale. Good balance and robustness of pumpkin, malt, and spice flavors; and very smooth to drink. A pleasantly enjoyable offering.

Cloudy orange brown with an off white head. Aroma is yeasty with cinnamon and clove. Taste is cinnamon, clove and citrus / cider. Cinnamon comes through in the finish.

Hazy orange and light amber coloured body with a good three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of squash, light spices, earth and a touch of nuts - no hops at all on this one. Medium-bodied; Good rich squash and pumpkin flavour and body with some moderate spices of allspice and nutmeg and a good sweetness showing toffee and caramel, all with a relatively easy to drink feel of wheat. Aftertaste shows a nice rich squash flavour, but some light sugars make it end fairly well. Overall, an interesting and good blend of a wheat and a pumpkin-based beer with a rich body and some nice light spices and sugars. Good to try! I sampled this pint on draught at Westside Brewery in New York, New York yesterday on 01-November-2013.

12 oz can, bottom dated BB 15 Jan., 2014, served in a snifter. A vigorous pour roused a moderate size bone-colored head that had limited retention. Nice, cloudy, orange-amber body. Well balanced flavor with the wheat, pumpkin pulp and spicing all coming out clearly, and a hint of hops too. Medium-light body is a touch watery and not as soft as hoped. O: nice, easy drinking wheat-based pumpkin beer.

Bottle. Hazy orange color. Nice cynamon and toffy smell. Light body. Unexpected not-so-sweet taste. Short sweet finish.
