Very pleasant, lightly sweet beer. Malt flavors come out in this dark, Belgian-style beer.
Keg @ Harriet. Deep russet color with a tiny off-white head. Some chocolate malt and toasty grain. Plum meat. Some brown sugar. Flavor is balanced. Mellow toast. Mild booziness. Red Apple skin. Hints of chocolate and a bit of cinnamon spiciness. Medium body, a touch oily. Decent. deyholla (11705) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - APR 16, 2015
On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear deep amber with a brown hue and a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has candies sugar, bread and some sweet grains with a bit of dark fruits underlying. Flavor has more of an earthy grain and dark fruit combination with a bit of Belgian yeast underlying. Lots of brown in this one, with malt and toffee that rounds the taste into sweet and spicy. On tap @ Harriet Brewing. edgallow (4211) - nashville, Tennessee, USA - JAN 5, 2015
Draft sampler pours brown with a off white head. Aroma of malts, toffee, bread and fruit. Taste is sweet malts, toffee and fruit. alexsdad06 (10471) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - MAY 27, 2014
Growler shared at RBWG 2011 from notes. Pours a clear brown color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have caramel and toffee malts, lightly toasted bread, dark fruits favoring raisins and figs with light spices. Decent, but quite sweet.

Tap. Tulip glass at new Bohemia. Dark amber. Subtle aroma. Great flavor throughout. Perfectly balanced. Good Belgian yeast flavor and the right amount of sweetness and alcohol. Nice sweet finish. Very well done. commonmac (1263) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - NOV 29, 2013
Tap at New Bohemia. A stunning looking dubbel with a dark copper color. Definitely owns its Belgian roots but well balanced with a dark sweetness. Really enjoy this one...a supremely underrated MN brewery. Abbey-solutely try this dubbel. cards04 (2822) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - JAN 7, 2013
Pours a burnt orange with lacing. Aromas are big sweet bananas. Similar flavours. Smooth and full bodied. Nice! northropfrye (3643) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - JAN 6, 2013
This was a nice sweet fruit malty dubbel. Pretty typical for the style, which is a good thing here. Nice. joechristenson (149) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - NOV 5, 2012
On tap at moot-i. Aroma is dried cherries, apples, fig, and ripe banana. Very ripe banana, actually, somewhere between fermented and a gracious rotting. It works, but lacks a good bite. Standard amber in color, hews toward orange. Taste profile is similar to the fruits described above. Not very concentrated up front, finishes stronger with a touch of alcohol. Weirdly soda-esque palate. Pretty good overall, but not my jam tonight.
