44 cl can @ vPBF as ”Hartwall 1836 Classic Chocolate Porter”, BBE 07/2008. Thanks Pat!lusikka (7813) - Tampere, FINLAND - AUG 26, 2012
Aroma is stale with some milk chocolate and a slight metallic feeling of contamination. Flavour is slightly tart with some essence-like milk chocolate and metal. Dry finish. Quite the same as I remembered it from 2007. And to think that this can was 5 years old…

Pours a dark brown colour with a white head. Aroma of milk chocolate, toasted malts and some nuts. Flavour of toasted malts, milk chocolate, some metallic notes and bready notes. Light bodied, thin mouthfeel and a smooth chocolate finish. A bit thin but still in a good condition.

Pours dark ruby red color with small off-white head. Aroma of dark berries, some mild milk chocolate and dark fruits. Flavor of milk chocolate, mild dark fruits, some metallic notes and hints of vanilla.
Unbelievable. Hartwall has managed to make its first special beer which actually tastes good. The chocolate taste fits in perfectly.

Eher kurzer Abgang. Nett.

Can 50cl. @ Chriso’s pre GBBF Shindig ’09. [ As Hartwall 1836 Classic Chocolate Porter ]. chriso (7533) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 21, 2009
Clear dark brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, chocolate. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
50 cl Can as 1836 Classic Chocolate Porter @ pre-GBBF shindig, August 2009. Chestnut brown colour. Chocolate essence dominates throughout and in a very big way. Rather artificial tasting. Not much else really. As harrisoni says the body is too thin to cope with all the chocolate and there is not really anything else to provide any counterpoint. So it all seems rather unbalanced, but not unpleasant. Certainly not as nasty, or anonymous, as other Hartwall beers I’ve tried.

Bottle at Chriso pre-GBBF tasting 09. Very choccy aroma. Too choccy, thin in mouth. Not got the body to carry the drinking choc flavour off. cgarvieuk (24499) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - AUG 26, 2009
