3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Appearance: Opaque black with ruby highlights. Thick tan head.
Aroma: Roasty and light maltiness caramel and ovaltine.
Flavour: Roasty and toffee, mildly sweet with a dry cocoa finish, Big roasty, malty, ovaltine hang. Burnt toast and light clean acidity fromn the roast.
Mouthfeel: Light bodied, chewy and creamy carbonation.
Overall: A refreshing dark beer. Lots of roast malt. Sweet at first but finishes dry and clean. LIght on the palate. It would be good with something salty - pretzels, nuts, y’know.

Bottle from the brewery in Lewes. Found this porter to be a little too bitter (prefer Harvey’s ales) although it did have some delicious hints of classic porter flavours at the back of the mouth. MoritzF (10068) - Ottobrunn, GERMANY - NOV 30, 2016
(bottle) Clear, slightly ruby brown colour with a beige and medium-sized foamy head. Leafy dark malty aroma with notes of dark chocolate, leather and mocha. Mildly roasty bitter and delicately sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Dry and slightly roasted malty taste with notes of bread crusts, dark chocolate, mocha and hints of licquorice towards the finish with a subtle dried fruity edge. 27.XI.16

0.5 l bottle from ’Rudat’, best before August 2018. Clear, very dark red to black with a thin, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Faint, sweetish-malty, slightly roasty aroma of chocolate, caramel and some coffee. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty and minimally fruity taste of chocolate, coffee, licorice, caramel and some raisins, followed by a short, moderately roasty-bitter, a bit dry finish. Medium body, just slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Simple, classic, but tasty Porter. pivnizub (10768) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - NOV 3, 2016

Dark with thin head, light in taste, sinks easily, would like this with a meaty pasta.
