A strong, old style India Pale Ale reminiscent of the ales exported across the globe by British breweries during the early 19th Century. It has a full hop aroma, golden body and tight head. The bitterness lingers on the palate giving a dry finish.

Bottle from brewery in Lewes. If this is what beers were like being sent around the world in the 19th century, take me back! The Star of Eastbourne is delicious. Strong, full of flavour, slightly sweet and slightly bitter. You must be in the mood for a more meaty beer, but if you are, enjoy, it’s a stayer.

pivnizub (10729) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - NOV 6, 2016
Bottle: Deep golden, clear, persistent white head with a little lace; bitter-sweet fruity (raisins) and malty nose with mild, but distinctive traces of herbal to "medical" hops; moderate to solid sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied, soft; lingering drier and "hoppier" finish, balanced by juicy malt. A pleasure...

Bottle in the Royal Oak, Borough. Served room temperature. Clear light chestnut brown, thin white foam head. Nose is caramel, crystal malt, boiled sweet, slight earthy English hop, some biscuity malt. Bit dull really. On the taste it’s as above but there’s some earthy dry hop, bit of ale fruitiness. Old fashioned caramel and boiled sweet bottled bitter. Bottle condition for God’s sake.

Poursa clear amber color, topped with a small and non-lasting white head. Malty aroma, biscuity with some caramel notes. Taste is malty, biscuity with some fruity feel way in the back and a moderate bitterness. Nothing special really.

Stuu666 (14187) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - FEB 28, 2015
Bottle at Ash’s. Pours amber, nose is dull toffee, floral, taste is chewy toffee, light sweetness.

McNeillR (2329) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - FEB 27, 2015
Paler amber than the bitter, slight buzzy head. Toffee and pineapple nose. Lean grassy bitterness, the "full hop" is a bit of a melon and lime stretch and it finishes clean enough. Agreeable enough finish, firm tinny bitterness.
