Porter. Coppery amber colour with small white head. Aroma is hops, slight earthy skunkyness. Flavour is very much the same, but has a huge wooden finish and aftertaste to it. Also some herbs noteable.

Warning! Early amateur rating! Dark bitter. Creamy and smooth with a mild tobacco taste. Not too bitter. Drinkable.
2011 note - wish I could remember where I had this because every one of these I have had since has been sulphury!

Cask at the Royal Oak. Almost clear amber beer. Light pale head. Light dry palate with mild fine carbonation. Light and unwelcome eggy note on the nose. Tangy malts, flirting with sour. Smooth but dry, Light bitterness. Whisper of dried fruits. It’s drinkable all right but barely passes muster. Kings new clothes and all that.
