Scopey 10K Celebrations in deepest Croydonia. Thanks to Paul. Light haze on this amber beer, no head. Woody caramel oxidised nose. Smooth pale malts. modest fine carbonation. Rich caramel - toffee malts. Some woody bitterness. Tangy dried fruits and a whisper of citric peel. A bitter finish. Quite robust really!
Bottle share at Scopey’s 10K boost-fest, many thanks to Harvey’s’ #1 fanboy for digging this one out. As "Harvey’s Trafalgar", 1982 vintage, gold foil, bottle #30. Very dark orange / brown, hazy, some sediment, small bubbly white head. Aroma is tangerine, jammy fruits. Body is medium, smooth, low carbonation. Taste is sweet malts, bread, resin, a little meaty with a dry finish. Very woody on the swallow. Interesting stuff. Leighton (21754) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 26, 2015
Bottle shared during Scopey’s 10k tasting - big thanks to Scopey himself for this finisher! Pours unclear brown with frothy tan head. Lots of toffee in the nose, plenty of oxidation, bread, plum. Medium to heavy sweet flavor, a little meaty and chewy, more creamy toffee, berries, figs. Full bodied, a little oily, with fine carbonation. Lightly warming on the finish, plenty of oxidation, lightly toasted bread, toffee, caramel, dates. Has aged magnificently. Wonderful beer. UPDATED: NOV 27, 2015 Bottle shared at my 10K. 1982 vintage I dare say! It pours clear deep red-brown with a small beige head. The nose is rich, unctuous, jammy, fruit compote, cranberry, fruit cake and mild sweetness. The taste is rich, dry, woody, earthy, dirt, dry leaves, cranberry, dried raspberry, toasty, toffee and leather with a dry, woody finish. Medium - full body and fine carbonation. Not too shabby at all for its age. SilkTork (5777) - Southampton, United Kingdom, Hampshire, ENGLAND - OCT 11, 2005
Garland, Redhill. Sweet and delightful. After the sweet fruity blackcurrant swallow comes the roast barley astringent bite quickly followed with a lingering bitter bark bite. A compelling drink of high quality and character.
