COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ola Dubh (or "Black Oil") is so named because it is gloopy and viscous. This limited release has been matured in casks from Orkneys award-winning Highland Park distillery to add complimentary whisky notes to what is already an amazing brew. It is chocolatey with a roasty, bittersweet aftertaste. Special Reserve 18, whisky notes: Highland Park 18 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky was named Best Spirit in the World by F. Paul Pacult; it offers toffee sweetness, almond nuttiness and a prolonged, smoky aftertaste.

A very rich beer. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, caramel. Almost impenetrable black colour. White head a bit frothy. aroma is dominated by the malt with a bit if vanilla and chocolate. Taste is very rich and complex at the beginning toffee and chocolate slightly sweet progressing towards more a bitter coffee after taste. A great beer.

Appearance: completely black, beautiful fine creamy foam. Aroma: intense, complex. Chocolate, roasted notes, a nice sweet vanilla. Dominated, however, notes of whiskey - a lot of peat. Taste: clearly feel the vanilla and peat. Slightly sour aftertaste. Beer rather dry, as for me missing here body.

Butelka. Barwa czarna, nieprzejrzysta. Wysycenie niskie do średniego. Piwo jest pełne, gładkie, smaki niezalegające. Wyczuwalny delikatny szlachetny alkohol.

330ml bottle No. 07614 kindly shared by LupuLust, merci and welcome to RB! - Bref: liquorice, mild peat and old leather lay an earthy umami blanket over this subtly aged ale full of raisin, plum, older dark berry, salty toffee and nuts flavours of a Scottish plumcake. - Mouthfeel is much lighter and smoother than anticipated, nearly sessionable, all but "viscous" compared to many an ImpStout, naturally carbonated. Whispy tobacco smoke enters late, lifting the aged fruit sweetness even more into a sepia picture of candied figs and whisky-like dry caramel/cane sugars. Well-aged, if a bit underwhelming considering its selling and marketing point. Still a few subtle and convincing notches above instant-IKEA-barreling Innis&Gunn.
