COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Filtered.
Ingredients: Pale malt; Roasted barley; Oats; Washington Galena, Worcester Fuggles and Kent Goldings hops.
A superb, rich, full-bodied beer derived from a 1970s homebrewing recipe. Wickedly smooth chocolate dominates the flavour, which is nicely balanced by the bitterness of the hops.

Pours a completly black colour with a light head. Aroma of roasted malts, some sourness, nuts and spruce. Roasted malts, dark fruits, dough, some light dark chocolate notes. Quite bitter aftertaste for a porter. Very good balance. A really good beer.

Black or almost so with a good, healty off-white head, which shows nice retention and lacing. Aroma is mellowed (or soft) roasted malts with notes of chocolate, liquorice and maybe slight fruity hints. Not extremely assertive but just that pleasantly clean. Taste has a roasted malts base with just the right amount of sweetness to bring perfect balance. Notes of coffee, chocolate, and maybe a hint of fruitiness. Medium bodied with low carbonation, with a very good velvety, smooth, lighlty creamy feel. Simply put, a very well crafted porter. Good stuff.

Delicious porter, full of rich roasted java notes and a silky smooth texture. Starts with a semisweet chocolate core, modest hints of raisin and cherry and a little anise, then grows a deep, bitter coffee backbone, one that carries the brew through to a dry, roasty finish. The aroma gushes pure porter mocha-filled goodness, and the feels just about perfect. Helluva beer.

UPDATED: MAY 9, 2017 Pours dark brown with foamy beige long lasting head. Aroma of malts, with notes of hazelnuts, nutella, chocolate, espresso, dark fruit esters, earthy, floral, grassy, gentle spicy hop profile. Flavour just follows aroma in all components. Body is medium, texture soft, carbonation is moderate.

2016 catch up - Bottle at home - This was, to me, more like a black IPA and I liked it a lot. A very good mouthfeel and lots of gentle hops; but it wasnt a hop bomb. I would happily drink this again.

Bottle from M&S Hammersmith. A good porter with hints of coffee, dark chocolate and caramel. Light-brown head.

Can. Near-opaque brown beer with a thin, light brown head. Smell is chocolate, malt, some tangy fruit. The fruit is quite sharp up front in the taste but uts soon dulled down by dark chocolate, coffee and the earthy malt which is what lingers after the fact. Rich, tasty, lasting. This stuffs magic.

Black color. One finger thick, beige head. Roasted malt and milk chocolate in aroma . Sweet taste with moderate, roasted bitterness. Smooth and easy to drink. Great, old school porter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Very decent, old world Porter. Good mouthfeel for the fairly low ABV. Plenty of roasted malts, some bitterness and solid liqurice.
