Nothing exceptional, but still nice and drinkable. I’d certainly have this again and would like to try in on cask, but wouldn’t seek it out.
20-01-2018; bottle; drank in Voss, Norway (bought at Saveur Bière).
The looks of the beer are perfect. It has everything a Porter should have. The color of the beer is a very dark ruby red blend with brown, so dark it is approaching black. It has a lovely ruby red glow. On top of the beer some nice soft light brown foam is formed. Foam retention is average. A nice thin creamy drape is left after some time.
The smell of the beer is nice. It is a tiny bit mild though. I wish it was stronger. There are some nice malt aromas. They give the familiar aromas of a porter: chocolate, coffee, some toast and roast. All nice, but for me it could have been stronger. There are some nice hoppy touches. A bit floral and fruity, but again a bit to mild. But very nice.
The taste of the beer is a lot stronger. There are some delicious malt flavours. They give aromas of chocolate, coffee, toffee, roast and toast and that familiar yeasty Porter touch, that gives a lovely creamy touch. Hops give a lovely fruity and slightly herbalk note. They are quite special, different from most hop flavours, but lovely. They give a decent bitterness, that pairs with the bitterness and sweetness of the malts, to result in a wel balanced beer.
The palate of the beer is very nice. Medium-full body, silky smooth texture and a nice low carbonation. The finish of the beer is lovely. It has a nice full creamy yeastiness that is not present in a lot of Porters. Besides this, there re lovely touches of bittersweet malts and fruity and floral hops. All in all, a lovely beer! Defiantly one of the better porters around. Alebarasi (180) - Dobrova, SLOVENIA - JAN 15, 2018
Dark brown/black color with a two finger high tan head. Full body, low carbonation, traces of lacing. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, brown sugar, roasted malts, cocoa and licorice. Sweet taste of chocolate, caramel, molasses, toffee, espresso, vanilla, dark fruits and wood. Rich, smooth and pleasant. Love it! theprof (1376) - Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, ENGLAND - JAN 14, 2018
Bottle. Pours dark black body some chocolate foam. Aroma roasted chocolate malt coffee licorice and resin. Taste is medium sweet to bitter. Palate is medium bodied, sticky feel, average carbonation, and long finish. A beer that deserves a decent fireplace and a howling gale outside. p0urmeac0ld0ne (413) - Merthyr Tydfil, WALES - JAN 7, 2018

Happy 2018! It’s time to change my old engine oil!
Pours black with thin tan head and average carbonation.
Nose: Some aromas of dark roasted malts, chocolate and coffee with little hop bitterness.
Taste: medium thickness, balance blend of dark chocolate and coffee, follow by little hop bitterness.
Aftertaste: medium short with little bitterness.
A really enjoyable porter that strikes balance of sweet and bitterness.

UPDATED: DEC 20, 2017 Can from BH advent calendar- guess it’s the same stuff?! Pour black with a beige head. Smells of chocolate and malt. Tastes very malty, bittersweet and, yes, it has an oily mouthfeel. Benters (143) - Leicestershire, ENGLAND - DEC 19, 2017
Pours dark black with thin tan head and average carbonation. Aromas of dark roasted malts, chocolate and coffee with some hop bitterness. Taste is thick, rich and full bodied; a really enjoyable blend of smooth dark chocolate with hints of chocolate, nicely balanced by a firm hop bitterness. Really enjoyable porter. Klares dunkles rotbraun mit durchschnittlicher Schaumkrone. Malzig, Röstaromen, reichlich dunkle Schokolade, erdig, würzig, leicht bitter, sehr süffig. colui72 (1160) - HONG KONG - NOV 30, 2017
Pours translucent dark brown, black in the glass, looks quite thin, nice creamy beige head that laces excellently. Aroma has some tartness, dark malts, strong oats. Tastes roasted-bitter, oats still strong, roasted barley, some note of chocolate and coffee. Stronger dark chocolate in the after taste. Quite thin, easy to drink, softly carbonated, very straight forward typical porter. Nice and enjoyable. tomandoaltura (363) - - NOV 21, 2017
Marrón muy oscuro. Notas de cacao oscuro y café. Toques de malta tostada. Buen cuerpo. Intenso amargor.
