Very nice mix here. It’s certainly all barrel, with wine mostly and a little whiskey, but wine is predominant. Not much of the original Old Engine in this - all barrel -- but in this case the original beer wasn’t much to start with. Tap at Max’s. Sour UK old ale. Solid. Big wine/cherry sour tone. Very mellow at the end of the sip though. The barrel has kind of eaten away at some of the rich malt tones. OK. Travlr (24759) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - MAY 4, 2014

I guess this is the correct entry. On tap at Belmont. Only listed as wine barrel aged. ABV fits, as does the descriptions. pours a dark brown color with a small white head. A huge vinous red wine nose with chocolates. The flavor is dominated by tart grape tannins, oak, some cocoa, light roast. Very interesting. On draft at Churchkey during their Sour Session volume 9 event. Poured a dark brown color, almost black with a medium sized tan head. Aroma was tart wine notes, woody barrel, plenty of roast character. Bitter chocolate notes. Flavor was nice woody, barrel character with some wine. Pretty enjoyable.

Draft at ChurchKey. Pours a deep black with a small light beige head and good lacing. Nose and flavor are lovely, with vinous wine barrel character melding with the inherent roasted malt, cocoa, and baking chocolate of the base beer. On draft at Churchkey DC during Sour Session number 9. Pours with black a tan head. Aroma of tart dark fruits. Flavors of tobacco, overripe stone fruits, with some tart apple. Smooth, tart finish.
