A lovely dark beer that’s on the lighter side of the porter style. All the flavours are there – chocolate, liquorice, deep-roasted coffee – but without the heaviness that normally confines darker beers to chilly winter nights.

Black colour, beige head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and roasted malts. Bitter coffee flavour. Bit thin. Finish coffee and caramel.

Pours dark with little tan head. Nice roasty and coffee aromas, flavours follows the nose. Viscous texture, smooth and quite enjoyable.

Brewfoolery (38) - California, USA - NOV 12, 2014
Poured on cask at the White Horse. Little to no head. Deep chocolate aroma with strong vanilla notes. Deep brown with ruby fringe in appearance. Light side of porters in style with thin mouthfeel. Slightly stringent aftertaste.

Cask @ the Sloaney Pony. Very dark pint with a creamy whitish head. Heavy heavy roast notes with a hint of burnt liquorice. Surprisingly light mouthfeel and very easy to drink. Lovely

Cask at Evening Star, Brighton. It pours dark brown with minimal head. The nose is toasty, cocoa, caramel and dried fruits. The taste is bitter-sweet, light caramel, toasty, light roast, treacle and light spice with a short, dry finish. Light-medium body and limited carbonation. A touch flat and thin, but not all bad.

Cask @ GBBF 2014. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty caramel aroma with hints of chocolate. Roasted malty chocolate and caramel flavor. Has a roasted malty chocolate and caramel finish.

Huddersfield Beer Festival. Very dark red. The liquorice in this is dominant and provides the ale with a sweet nose and sweeter taste.

Gravity at GBBF 2014. Poured a dark, murky brown, with a scummy beige head. Aroma of dark malt, molasses and earth. Fairly light mouth feel. Caramel flavours, with some grain and hay coming through. Finish was coffee, tar and toffee.
