Hard to believe no one has tapped into this extrodinary dunkel. Bought this outside of Nordlingen, Germany and was excited to try it knowing that this must be a small brewery. Boy was I right on target this is an all around excellent dunkel. Not watered down, a nice malt blend with a touch of sweetness in the finish. hayduke (5212) - Eureka, California, USA - JUL 2, 2006
A very nice dark beer on draft in Dinkelsbühl, Germany. Nice nose of rich malts and hops. Rich brown color with a nice long-lasting light brown head and good lacing. Smooth on the tongue. This is a great example of a local brew. Not sure how wide of a distribution this gets, but it was simply fantastic. jbrus (4990) - Delft, NETHERLANDS - NOV 28, 2005
Bottled. Aroma of hops, grain, caramel and chocolat malts. Dark brown color, light brown head, good lace. Light sweet, malty, herbal, caramel, chocolate malts, lightly roasted. Very full, light dusty. Very good example of the style. MoritzF (9901) - Ottobrunn, GERMANY - JUN 1, 2010
(bottle) Clear, dark brown colour with a dense medium-sized and tanned foamy head, slowly lacing. Toasty malty and slightly bready aroma with notes of caramel, chocolate, a tinge of anise on a herbal hoppy background. Bitter-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a crispy mouthfeel. Moderately roasted malty base with notes of dark chocolate, caramel and mildly herbal hoppy spots; slightly sweet and roasty bitter finish with a delicate hops character. A superb Dunkel. 28.V.10 pivnizub (10621) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - JUN 16, 2010
Bottle: Clear, ruby-amber coloured, medium-sized persistent and lacy off-white head; sweetish-caramelly nose with a light mineralic-toasty background; moderate sweet flavour, soft, relatively light bodied; faint bitterness in the sweet caramelly finish, that also contains traces of cacao-powder. It’s dark-brown with a creamy head and the aroma has notes of roasted malt, caramel and dark syrup. The flavour is sweet with notes of nuts, caramel, toast, light cocoa and dark syrup, and the finish is slightly dry.
