Bottle at Cafe Abseits Bamberg. Clear gold lasting white head. It’s an ok lager slightly malty. It’s clean some character.

At Landgasthof Windfelder 15/8/2015. Deep gold in colour, with a frothy, off-white, head. A soft, malty beer with a hint of chocolate powder, hedgerow fruits, some leasfy hops and a touch of bitterness in the finish. Good.

KyotoLefty (10207) - Kyoto, JAPAN - AUG 24, 2015
tap at Sandkerwa festival. Bright, clear orange-amber color. Malty nose, caramel, earthy hops. Sweet malt flavor, caramel, peaches, medium to full body. Peppery finish. Decent but rather boring.

Well this was a pleasant surprise. My 5-year-old son insisted I get it because of the cartoon label. I mean, there’s almost boobies right there. I would have thought the same, when I was 5. Instead I tend to give cartoon labels a pass these days. Generally speaking, not always, there is inverse relationship in cartooniness of the label and quality of a beer. That’s experience talking, son. But there are always exceptions. So, Adam and Eve, sitting in the garden, having a beer. "Got any salty snacks," she asks, "maybe some erdnuss flippies or pork scratchings?" "Er, no," Adam says. "Oh. OK," she says. "How about an apple?" Anyways. This beer is deep golden, only lightly hazed, with a nose of toasted nut and caramel, lightly sweet with some hefty body to it, but met with a fairly serious earthy-dusty bitterness that lingers as a healthy bit of resin. There is a lot of oomph here. It may be a bit rich to be seriously drinkable, but this is not a boring beer.
