Draught at the source. Pours with a hazed brown body and a lasting tan head. Aromas are of sweet grain, wet dog, spicy malt, earthy, grassy, light caramel. Flavors are sweet and grainy, light butterscotch, rye, orange marmalade. Missing some hop character for a rye IPA, and quite sweet overall. Medium carbonation, fuller bodied with a lasting sweetness. dukeredhair (243) - California, USA - SEP 23, 2012
Dark red to brown pour. Aroma of spicy rye and odd messy cheese spice. taste is spicy rye and funk in the not refreshing kind of way. Palate is thick and clingy. I’d heard good things but this leaves a lot to be desired. brokensail (16486) - Dublin, California, USA - SEP 19, 2012
Pours a cloudy reddish amber color with an off-white head. Strong citrus and fruity hop aroma. A bit of malt sweetness, but balanced nicely by the rye. Some fruity hops in there, too. Tastes pretty nice. Sweet toffee and brown sugar along with some more astringent rye notes. A mild line bitterness and lots of sweet fruity hops. Pretty robust citrus hop flavors to it, too.
