Can from brewery, cloudy reddish beer, decent white head. Aroma is plums, bananas, malt. Taste is banana, malt, caramel, touch of coffee. Palate is smooth. Carbonation moderate. Pair with a smashed leftover half of a peanut butter jelly sandwich that’s been to the beach and back. kidmartinek (4999) - austin, Texas, USA - JAN 7, 2017
Pours opaque caramel with a white head. Aroma has notes of old library. Flavor is decidedly Belgian with Belgian yeast, caramel and medium dark sugar. A great local representation of the style. bp (922) - New York, New York, USA - JAN 5, 2017

Rating #5600 - in French Polynesia with a beer from Hawaii (carried there)
Deep muddied brown coloured body with a ruby glow and a nice violet coloured tint as well. Aroma of toasted malt, candy sugar, oranges, apricots and a good deal of yeast - but the malt is still by far the strongest. Medium to Full-bodied; Pungent toasted malt characteristics up front with yeast, fruit, nuts, earth, alcohol and tons of caramel noticeable throughout. Aftertaste shows caramel, toffee, earth, malts and alcohol with a good deal of yeast on the finish. Overall, a funky and interesting beer that shows almost no belgian characteristics except for a bit of the sugars and some of the end of the yeast flavours, but this is more of a Strong American or a typical brown ale. I sampled this really odd and tall sized 568 mL can that either has to have more than 568 mils or was only filled up part way, but it didn’t seem that way from the feeling of the beer or the pour. I sampled this can purchased from the Kona Wine Market in Kona-Kailua on 10-August-2016 for the very expensive US$8,10 sampled in my overwater bungalow in Pape’ete, Tahiti, French Polynesia on 19-August-2016 on my last night before returning home to the USA, for rating #5600!

I'm wondering if this is better on draft, because from the tall boy can its metallic as all get out.

Murky reddish brown color with a small light tan head.
Prunes, sweet dark fruits, mild hops, mild bitterness and sweet malt in the aroma.
The flavor is dark fruits, prunes, sweetness, mild hops, mild bitterness and malt. Belgian style double red ale? What the heck is that? 8.5% is well hidden.
Sweet malt, brown sugar, yeast and a bit of Heath Bar. Dark caramel color, smallish beige head. Sweet & tangy, toffee and barnyard funk (in a good way). Mild carbonation, slick feel, alcohol well hidden.
