1 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20
This is first of four beers that I won’t likely try again. The absence of hops and the smell and taste of sweet corn made this beer undrinkable, thin and watery
Very pale straw color (cider like) with decent head.
Aroma is grainy, bread and slight lemon.
Very slight bitterness, but thin and bland with a slight honey note at the back.
Ok with the curry I was eating at the time.
Otherwise, uninspiring. olsentribe8 (19) - Napier, NEW ZEALAND - JUL 11, 2014
What a disappointment! Being a Hawke’s Bay local I was expecting good things from this "handcrafted beer". It wasn’t even on par with plain old boxed beer. I tried 4x 500ml varieties and same result, very reminiscent of my first or second batches of just acceptable home brew. Come on HBIB you can do better than this! heyden (138) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - JUL 1, 2014
Tried onsite. Very bland. Zero hop taste or aroma. Very pale body with minimal aroma. The only taste experienced is a nasty metallic one. Perhaps worse than a mainstream megacorp beer. Don’t bother with it sm89walt (2080) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - MAR 9, 2014
Keg - The Mousetrap, Taupo. Poured a lively, clear golden yellow with a lasting, lacing frothy white head. Lemon, grain, corn, bread dough and biscuit characters. Light to medium body, full carbonation and a light intensity, short length finish. Clean, nice enough pale malts; won’t set the world alight. Bottled. A yellow beer with a white head. The aroma has notes of malt, straw, and grain. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and grain, leading to a bitter finish.

Pours golden with white head, not much aroma or taste with sweet aftertaste. Easy session beer. DuffMan (10665) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 22, 2009
Bottle. Pours the expected golden yellow with a medium sized short-lived head. Sweet grainy cereal aroma and flavour with a whiff of grassy hop. Low bitterness. Nothing wrong with it, just pretty unremarkable really. kempicus (343) - Bakewell, Derbyshire, ENGLAND - NOV 21, 2008
This one apparently is made with 100% all malt....so what were the other two that i rated made out of? rice, corn, sugar...who knows? this one has a bit more going for it and going on, fancy that it’s made with proper ingredients! Still light on flavour but if you try really hard you can pick up some malt flavours. bozoNZ (781) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - OCT 1, 2008
500ml bottle - Nice golden yellow, good white retentive head. Faint bisciuty aroma with a light waft of floral airfreshner. Lightweight malt little hop chatacter. A little spritzy - sweet malts but a litle L&P-ish. TheGrandMaster (2335) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - MAR 30, 2008
Bottle, pouring a pale gold with a white bubbly head. A hoppy aroma with some nice floral touches. Very dry and grassy on the palate, but there are floral notes again and clean sweet malt improving it overall. Though the finish is very corny. Suprised by some of the ratings and comments, as this is better than most lagers you will find on the shelves.
