Gold Medal, 2014 International Beer Challenge (London). Hawthorn Golden Ale is a full flavoured and easy drinking ale made from a combination of carefully selected German Malts which give the beer its sparkling golden appearance. Generously hopped, but mild on the bitterness, the use of three different hops from the USA, UK and Australia impart a highly refreshing passionfruit and tropical fruit character. Hawthorn Golden Ale is the perfect beer for the warmer months. Best served chilled in a glass.

Better than expected. An easy beer to drink. Non offensive and good in warmer weather. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330ml bottle. Pours a clearish golden yellow with a white head. Aroma: citrus, biscuity malt, straw, mild passionfruit and pineapple notes. Taste: citrus, passionfruit, biscuity malt flavours. Mild flavoured but pleasant. Thin to medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Mild sweetness. Fairly clean finish. This was quite easy drinking and very sessionable. Not exciting but still quite decent.

Poured a crystal clear golden colour with a bright white foamy head that retained very well but laced poorly. Carbonation moderate, average and medium to coarse. Aroma moderately strong of moderately sweet tropical fruits (pineapple, sweet citrus) with a hint of pine; fresh and inviting. Taste slightly of citrus/lemon with a hint of spices/pepper; low bitterness; low flavour compared to what the aroma suggested. Light body. Smooth with low bitterness on a short, fruity finish.

Bottle, 33cL. Home. A sparkling golden beer with a small white head ; medium retention. Citrus (lemon, lime), resin, herb, light pepper. Medium dry bitter refreshing, sweet note. Light body, watery texture, good carbonation, herbal fruity dry bitter lasting finish. Overall, very good !

From a 330ml bottle with BBD 26/9/17. A clear bright golden beer with a medium long lasting white head. Nose has light golden malts with fruity notes (pineapple, passionfruit, oranges) and a hint of hay/straw. Palate is sweetish and dryish with a fruity hop bitterness and clean mouthfeel. Bonus points for being not too sweet like so many Aussie golden ales. Pleasant, quaffable.

Pale golden and clear (as you might expect), this one has a light and pleasant floral hoppy aroma, with a mild grainy malt flavour and nicely balanced clean bitterness. Hits of herbal hops in the residual flavour. Drinks very easily and has a bit more flavour and aroma than many golden ales, could maybe use a slightly more creamy mouthfeel but I was very pleasantly surprised here.

harrisoni (19854) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - JAN 21, 2016
Bottle from Terre de Boissons Calais and drunk at home. Clear gold colour lasting white head. Some floral hop. Drinkable enough golden ale. Not much bitterness, but the rose floralness is quite attractive.

tomgorm (60) - maroubra, AUSTRALIA - DEC 11, 2015
Incredibly fragrant with orange blossom and rose water, flash of bitterness over a smooth palate with a vanilla like warmth. Very pleasant finish.

motelpogo (8031) - Plzen, CZECH REPUBLIC - OCT 2, 2015
bottle from dan murphys in newcastle. quite a pale golden with a lingering film of head; light fruit salad in the aroma, lozenges; modest bitterness; unexciting but clean and easy drinking
