3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft, pours amber with white head. Nose of sweet cotton candy and tropical fruit, and caramel. Flavor is sweet cotton candy, brown sugar, grapefruit, honeydew melon, and candy sugar. Med body. A big sweet beer that wouldn’t work no matter how hopped up it was. Blah.
Least favorite of the beers sampled at the brewery. 14 karat, tangerine pour with a small ivory head. Aroma and flavor shows citrus, pine and caramel...not hop forward, unfortunately. ABV is noticeable...not as well hidden as others in the sample. Medium mouthfeel. msante79 (2225) - Mount Prospect, Illinois, USA - SEP 9, 2011
Taster at Haymarket. Pours clear light orange with small white head. Aromas of faint citrus and bready malts. Flavors of citrus, some hop bitterness, sweet malts, and booze. Not very hoppy but did have fair amount of alcohol. Not really balanced or enjoyable for that matter. NobleSquirrel (3438) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 6, 2011
Another Imperial/Double IPA starting with ’A’ had a Haymarket. Pours a reasonably clear orangey gold with a sticky white head. Nose is softly citrus and floral, but overall pretty generic. On tasting, it is definitely on the sweet side and the bitterness is quite restrained. Fair hop flavor, but overall really lacks character. Big bodied and overlly balanced, tipping towards a small barleywine even. Nowhere near my top for Haymarket in the IIPA department. hombrepalo (1971) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 6, 2011
4oz pour @ the brew pub. Golden orange pour, white head. Citrus, sharply bitter hops, lemon, bread and grainy malt, and light fruit. The astringent bitterness and malts are not working together, not that good. chibuck (3513) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 5, 2011
draft... dark clear orange with a light tan head... nose is bit light with some nice oranges... and nice but the taste is way too much alcohol, harsh and bitter pine, tough to drink... one of my least favorite ipa’s from here... pass

Pours a cloudy orange brown in a 4oz sampler at hay market. Aroma is slightly hoppy, not bad. Flavor is dry and hoppy. Definitely grassy. Too grassy. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - AUG 19, 2011
Draft on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a dulled orange copper hue, darker glowing reddish orange. A decent frothy offwhite head dies to a decent ring, ok lacing overall. Aromas are sticky sweet pale and touches of caramel malts mixed with tropical fruits and grass, touches of soap. Bigger tropical, some lemon, mangos. Sweeter overall. Some lighter florals. Initial is medium bodied offering a decent to moderate hop bitterness green and floral with some lemons, melons, and tropical fruit. Some grass, moving into sweet sticky toffee, biscuits, pale malts. A dense sweetness that can’t temper, orange maramalde and oranges come into the middle. Some more bread, caramel, and touches of soap, tropical fruits, some touches of melon. Strange finish is a bit sticky, just a too big malt body for the hop presence thrown out there. Sweet and sticky, tropical fruits and oranges. A touch of dryness and ABV linger on the finish and backend of the palate. Not a DIPA I like too much.. One of the more dissappointing hop offerings from Haymarket thus far.
