Pailhead (6541) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - NOV 14, 2014
On tap: The aroma consists of moderate smoke meats, molasses, chocolate, caramel, bourbon, and vanilla. It’s a dark brown with no transparency and a small beige head that quickly fades to a thin ring around the edges of the glass. The flavor starts with a quick dose of chocolate, molasses, and caramel. The finish has moderate smoked meats, light coffee, roast, and a hint of sour fruit. It’s medium bodied with light-moderate carbonation. Tmoney99 (14627) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - DEC 8, 2011
Tap sample. Poured clear dark brown with a large light brown frothy head that was mostly lasting with very good lacing. Moderate woody smoke malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium sweet smoke flavor with a medium dark sweet finish of moderate duration. Complex good beer. A clear deep dark brown porter with reddish hues and a thin lacing brown head. In aroma, a peaty chocolate with light herbal notes, smokey, a bit of tar, not bad. In mouth, a nice bitter chocolate with light smoked notes, nice and smooth. On tap at brewpub, Nov. 11 2011. chibuck (3513) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 5, 2011
draft... dark brown with an impressive head... the aroma is outstanding and almost perfect for the style, more of the vain of salted pork accented by the roast, but its addicting to smell... the taste is a bit of let down, doesn’t carry over the pork of the aroma, more chocolate and roast but still a smoked porter pantanap (3366) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 5, 2011
12oz pour at the source... Pours a deep shade of black, almost opaque, and roped wit a creamy tan lasting head... Aroma of roasted grain and a touch of ash. Light cocoa.... Big roasty profile upfrot I. The flavor with chocolate malt present but taking a backup role. Semi-sweet in nature with a touch of ash and a burnt bitterness surfacing late. Smooth creamy mouthfeel with a medium full mouthfeel. Carbonation is light and right where it should be to mesh well with the body.

Beatiful stout, dark with a creamy head. Strong smoke but not overbearing. Well balanced with creamy texture. A bit chaulky though. tmoreau (4449) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - OCT 30, 2011
On tap at the brewpub, and presented as a full sampler with a clear, darkest brown color, and ruby highlighting showing through. A nice amount of silky, tan head foam lingered for awhile, and deposited clingy waves and spots of lacing on the glass. The aroma was strong roastiness, with coffee notes leading the way, followed by cocoa, smoke, and a little char. The flavor added a moderate but "lasting into the finish" hop bitterness, medium body, and a light creaminess to the mouthfeel. Didn’t take advantage at the time, but could have been part of an excellent broiled fish pairing. gyllenbock (9328) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - OCT 25, 2011
On tap at the Brewpub, October 21, 2011.
Black with a minimal tan head. Pleasant aroma of smoked ham, roasted malt and dark chocolate. The same in the pleasant taste. I liked this, not heavy at all but very drinkable. The best of the 10 beers that I tried during my visit at Haymarket.

On tap at Haymarket. Pours dark brown with tan head. Aromas of lots and smoke with some chocolate. Flavors of smoke and meat with some ash and bit of a chocolate overtone. Nice to have a nice smokey beer as the last few I have had been a bit underwhelming in the smoke dept. Roonai (305) - - OCT 14, 2011
On tap at HM. P is black amber. Clean but opaque. No pacing or head. Nose is peat smoke. Some malt. But general campfire. T did I just eat a campfire log? Straight smoked wood... Subtle chocolate malt after consideration. But peat is the main note. Apprecite how clean it is for a smoked porter but A sampler is enough.
