On tap at Haymarket in a 5 oz taster. Intensely cloyingly sweet. Like a thin bodied bourbony port wine. Can taste the alcohol but isn’t too boozy just because it’s so damned sweet. Not bad but geez, super one note.

Draft to taster at FoBAB from notes. Pours a hazy caramel brown color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have big sweet malts, caramel, bourbon, vanilla, cherry notes, oak, boozy, fits nicely with the rest of this event.

Sweet carmel body a little of the toasty burbon. Very sweet and balanced. Avery enjoyable barley wine.

Well barely wines are normally pretty great but this is an interesting one.I can’t tell if it’s really sweet or really sour. Like a sweet and sour sauce maybe. I don’t know...

Location: Draft at the brewpub, 5/28/14

Aroma: The nose is sweet and a little boozy, with bourbon, vanilla, and caramel mostly
Appearance: The pour is amber in color with an off-white-to-beige colored head
Flavor: The flavor is much the same component-wise, it leans heavily toward the sweet side
Palate: The body leans toward the full side, some stickiness, and some heat
Overall Impression: Sweet stuff, and pretty tasty stuff as well. This one was another nice offering that I got to try on my trip to Haymarket.

On tap at Haymarket. Poured a dark amber brown with thinning cream head. Aroma sweet with brown sugar caramel bourbon. Light carb med bod. Sweet taste not too bourbony.

Sample at the brewpub. The beer is a hazy orange-yellow color with a medium off-white head that diminishes gradually to a film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of bourbon, malt and hops. Full-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, dark fruit, oak and resiny hops. The finish is subtle booze and piney hops. Pretty good overall.

This one poured a hazy light orange color with a white head. Big vanilla, and caramel and wood upfront. Taste was similar, lots of oak and vanilla with mild lemon zest notesd too. Solid BA barleywine.
