COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A big, malty dark brown ale brewed with dark crystal, victory & chocolate malts. It’s then hopped AND dry-hopped with 3lbs per barrel of Simcoe. Think of it as a brown double I.P.A.!

draft, pours copper brown with tan head. aroma has nice tropical, catty, and grassy notes. flavors have a good combo of toasted nutty malt with grapefruit citrus character, although the crystal malt gets a bit rough and plasticy.

Draft at Haymarket a while back. Pours a reddish brown with a tan head. Decent clarity. Nose is big and fruity overall. Galaxy is what I thought as I get a sweet and sticky tropical fruit thing. On tasting, big bitterness, faint cocoa and clean. Solid but kind of an odd mix with the crystal/caramel notes clashing a bit with the hops. Solid.

Draft on tap at Haymarket 2nd Anniversary Party (Chicago, IL). Pours a rich deep brownish pour, darker, good haze, healthy glow is inviting overall. Rich flavors. A frothy tannish dulled head. Laces ok. Aromas are richly hoppy, dry, grapefruit and florals, some lemon, some toast, gentle brown malt. Richly hoppy. Initial is deep and bitter, lemon and grapefruit, thin body, richly about the hops. Solid. Grapefruit, lemon, and florals. Solid flavors with good bitterness, florals, grass, dank bitterness. Brown and darker elements shows some life, bitter. Backend is a bit more restrained, crackers and biscuits. Certainly more rich bitterness coming in, tapers off, some tropical fruit, fun flavors. It’s exciting, a bit malty flashes explode on the backend and finish, still dry and toasty. Fun. Bitter, rich fun tropical hop flavors offer life and fun throughout.

THe simcoe is very well-used in this beer, an insane amount of dry hopping helps it smell amazing.

draft at Haymarket brewpub...this was a good (for a brown ale) - smooth with a mild taste...not too hoppy ... Smooth and tasty.
